NEW AND RELAUNCHED 2012/2013

Oxford Reference Online

Oxford Reference Online (ORO) will re-launch to a new platform and will be known as Oxford Reference (OR). The new Oxford Reference will consist of two parts:

Quick Reference

Reference Library

All titles will be cross-searchable on the new platform which has newly enhanced features including XML delivery and mobile optimisation.

Oxford Quick Reference contains 170 quick reference titles with concise and a written entries for readers who want to quickly check a fact, find out key details about a person, term or concept across a huge range of core subjects.

Access to this content will be continuously updated. Perpetual access pricing is available, with annual update fees.

Oxford Reference Library is a list of reference titles, most of which are published by Oxford University Press. These are titles which do not require dynamic updating and will be available for outright purchase. We will continue to publish new editions of the classic works in this range of reference titles.

As part of the re-launch, CAUL members will have two options to select from;

Option: 1 (Old model) Renew with access to existing content.

This will allow members to also pick and choose titles previously on the Digital Reference Shelf platform from the Reference Library collection, on a perpetual access basis.

This option is only available for existing subscribers.

Option: 2 (New model)Move to the new model and gain access to Quick Reference titles (listed in the attachment). This model has been discounted as some titles such as the Companion series are now available as perpetual access purchases from the Reference Library collection.

Libraries which opt to move to the new model will have the ability to tailor their OR titles according to their own collection development requirements. Additional discount will apply for any titles previously subscribed to in the old ORO. These discounts will be on a basis of each year of subscription.

Oxford Handbooks Online: Scholarly Research Reviews

Oxford Handbooks Online will relaunch in 2012. The site will feature the same analytical and authoritative review articles currently available through Oxford Handbooks Online, but with expanded coverage and with new articles added on a monthly basis. Coverage will expand to fourteen disciplines: Archaeology, Business and Management, Classics, Criminology, Economics, History, Law, Linguistics, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Religion.

The relaunch of Oxford Handbooks Online represents a transition from an e-book database, to a dynamic article-delivery service featuring handbook chapters in advance of their print publication, ensuring the scholarship's currency and reliability. Handbook chapters will appear alongside articles commissioned exclusively for Oxford Handbooks Online to provide comprehensive coverage of the discipline. Each subject area will be overseen by an Editor in Chief and Editorial Board of subject experts who will guide editorial development and insure the scholarship meets high standards for academic quality.

Perpetual access and subscription pricing is available. We have a calculator that will give us pricing for those CAUL members who have already previously purchased OHO content.
