ALM107 Running a Sizing Project from Blueprint to Upgrade

In order to predict hardware requirements needed to run your business smoothly, SAP has developed tools to help you plan your hardware budget. One of the major tools is the Quick Sizer, SAP's online sizing tool. ALM108 Large SAP Systems - Performance Characteristics and Examples of Performance Challenges

The larger an SAP system, the more care needs to be taken to ensure good performance, for end users as well as for batch jobs. Many customers approach SAP to ask for performance references to help them understand feasibility and pitfalls. Especially in a global context, many customers consider moving their system to a single global instance where users connect to one system (nearly) 24 hours a day, while at the same time batch jobs and maintenance windows need to be scheduled. This lecture will answer questions such as: How, if at all, can you anticipate the performance behavior of custom coding? Is SAP software able to process hundreds of thousands of customer order line items per day, several thousand concurrent users, and two-digit terabytes of data storage? The lecture will include many examples from actual installations and high volume tests.

ALM202 DB2 9.7 LUW for SAP - The Success Story Continues

DB2 9.7 LUW introduced various new database features that are specially designed for running SAP on DB2 LUW. Reduced storage costs, improved performance, new autonomic features, and finally, TCO reduction, are the major business drivers of the new SAP on DB2 9.7 LUW solutions. Among the highlights are index and temp space compression, LOB data inlining, the new DB2 Cobra monitoring, automatic storage extensions, data warehouse improvements, and automatic space reclaim of MDC tables. ALM203 The all new Performance Warehouse

Performance Warehouse is a very powerful and brand new SAP feature. It makes our customers' lives easier when dealing with database performance issues. All relevant performance indicators throughout your system landscape are periodically collected and stored centrally in SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse cubes on your SAP Solution Manager. The correlation of performance data from different sources is the major benefit of this feature. It allows the integrated view of performance data of the application, database, and operating system in a user friendly SAP GUI with drill-down capabilities. DBAs can easily identify and categorize the root cause of a performance problem. The Performance Warehouse is delivered with predefined performance reports ready to use. In addition, DBAs can define their own reports and integrate them in the DBA Cockpit, which makes the tool very flexible.
