The Guardsman - our Centerpiece

• Full-time Active Guard & Reserve (AGR) Soldiers and ARNG Soldiers on

Active Duty receive the same pay and allowances as full-time, Active

Component personnel.

• Training on “drill” weekends = one day’s base pay per drill period. One

drill period equals four hours thus for one “drill” weekend (Saturday and

Sunday), a reservist receives four days of active pay.

• A reservist earns between $8,000 - $15,000 per year based on rank for

performing drills one weekend per month and two weeks of annual

training for the year.

• After 20 years, a reservist qualifies for a pension, to be paid at age 60

equating to between $800 - $1200 per month depending on rank, years of

service and points.

Mississippi State Partnership Program Partner Countries: Bolivia, Uzbekistan

Mission: To establish and sustain enduring relationships with partner nations of strategic value in conjunction with National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy, Department of State and Combatant Command Theater Security Cooperation guidance to promote national objectives, stability, partner capacity, better understanding and trust.

• Our partnership with Bolivia began in 1999 and averages 9 events per year

• Our partnership with Uzbekistan began in February 2012.

• Events have included university staff, various state agencies, NGOs, civilian and military personnel.

The mission of the National

Guard Youth ChalleNGe

Academy is to improve the

education, life-coping skills and

employment potential of 16-18

year old high school dropouts

so they may become productive

members of their communities

and society in general.

The museum’s state- of-the-art

exhibits tell personal stories of the

heroes and heroines of our Republic

the freedom and prosperity Americans

The Military Funeral Honors Team

began as a formal program in April

2004, and is responsible for conducting

military funerals throughout the state.

The team conducted 10,162 funerals

from April 1, 2004 to 30 November,

2012, for Service Members of all

branches of the United States Armed

Forces. These Service Members were

Veterans of World War II, Korea,

Vietnam, Operation Enduring Freedom,

and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and were

active duty, reserve component, as well

as retired.

The state economic impact of the team

was over $6,500,000 for support,

operations and training from 2004 -

2012.

MSNG hosts the MS ESGR program, serving all branches of service.

Vision - Develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the employment and military service of their employees with ESGR as the principal advocate within DoD.

Mission: We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and resolving conflict between employers and service members. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
