The meeting was called to order by President Nancy Junk at 6:25. Board members present, Nancy Junk, Bobbie Tarkiananen, Susan Culley, Jill Addington and Elaine Thompson McGee. Nancy in looking at the Rules of Operation, stated that Section 6 a) should read 3 of 5 elected officers. She also noted that in the By Laws, Article IIV Section 1 The Quilt Show Chair shall:, should read The Quilt Alaska Quilt Show Chair shall:. Jill reported that there were 55 members signed up for the annual dinner. Nancy Hummel has been writing letters asking for donations to the guild, Mt. McKinley bank donated $200.00 to our general account. Thank you notes will be sent to Walmart and to Mt. McKinley bank. As of the board meeting, there was $2600 in the raffle account that needs to be spent down to $1000 by October 31. Susan will contact Kelley about purchasing a roll of batting and check on buying quilt backs, both will be for Community Sewing. Right now, we donate $702 from this account to UAF, is it worth it? She will drop the scrapbooks off at Material Girls and Elaine will pick them up to bring to the meeting. Nancy and Susan will meet to decide ways to spend the raffle account money down to $1000. The meeting was adjourned at 7:25. Respectfully submitted, Elaine Thompson McGee

Annual Dinner Wrap-Up

What fun we had at the Annual Dinner on October 18th! Sixty-four members and guests dined on Miguel's delicious food, admired more than 20 Quarter Yard Challenge projects, shared friendship, and talked about all things fabric. The laughter was ongoing and loud, as it should be. Many hands helped in making this event possible. Thank you to the organizing committee members and advisers: Dotty Cooper, Lolly Carpluk, Karen Milne, Elaine Thompson-McGee, Nancy Junk, Kristen Brown, Sonja Zastrow, and Susan Culley. A huge thank you to the following for their generous donations of time and prizes : Blue Ribbon Sew-n-Vac, Alaska Raw Fur, Northern Threads, Material Girls, Nancy Junk, Karen Milne, Dotty Cooper, Carl Addington, Dambra Callahan, and two people who asked to remain anonymous. Kudos to those who all who accepted the Quarter Yard Challenge and brought projects to show! Your creativity was incredible and gave all of us new ideas and inspiration. Viewers' Choice voting was difficult because of all the great work! Of course, thank you to Miguel and his staff for a great dinner and venue, as well as fantastic service. I don't think anyone went away hungry... Any feedback you have regarding this event would be appreciated, as it will help next year's dinner be even better. You can send comments to me, Nancy Junk, or your new vice president, Corlis Taylor. See you next year!

Jill Addington, Past Vice President and Annual Dinner Chair
