Monday 20th

Volunteering in LeedsFind out ways in which you can get involved as a volunteer whilst a student in Leeds from members of staff at LUU and the University of Leeds. 2.00pm to 3.00pm, Meeting Room 4, Union building.

Reach Coffee and CakeFind out more about volunteering with Action’s Reach project which takes young people with learning difficulties on weekends away. 5.30pm to 6.30pm, Meeting Room 4, Union building.

Tuesday 21st

Mind the Gap: Film Screening and discussions on international volunteeringEver considered volunteering abroad? Mind the Gap is a documentary film exploring the impact of volunteers who have travelled to Ghana to volunteer. Discussions with the film-maker and those with knowledge in the field to follow. 5.00pm to 6.30pm, The Common Room, Union building.

Community Clear Up: Have a go at volunteering and come and help tidy up an area of Leeds. 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Email [email protected] for further details or to sign up.

Wednesday 22nd

Opportunities FairFind out about volunteering opportunities along with other opportunities to gain skills or get paid work in Leeds. 10.00am to 3.00pm, Foyer and The Riley Smith, Union building.

Bardon Grange Project Come along to volunteer at LUU’s community food growing project to do a variety of activities such as seed sowing, digging new beds and harvesting produce that we’ve grown. All welcome, refreshments provided. Wear warm clothes and decent shoes, and bring a waterproof coat!2.30pm to 5.00pm, Bardon Grange garden, Oxley halls of residence, Weetwood Lane, Leeds, LS16 5PA.

Action ‘Give it a Go’Find out about the volunteering projects that Action runs in the local community. 6.00pm to 8.00pm, LUU meeting room 6, Union building.

Student Action for Refugees and Amnesty International Sleepout: Show your support for destitute asylum seekers by taking part in our sleepout. There will be entertainment to keep you going. Wrap up warm and bring a sleeping bag if you are staying the night. From 8.00pm, Outside the Union building.

Thursday 23rd

Does volunteering empower or exploit?An open discussion about the impact of volunteering on communities and individuals. 4.00pm to 6.00pm, Foyer, Union.

Mapping wealth and deprivation in Leeds Get to know Leeds with a 3D interactive map, exploring wealth and deprivation in the city and show you where your volunteering can have an impact. 12.00pm to 2.00pm, Opposite Essentials, Union building.

Woodhouse Kids Club Woodhouse Kids Club is an afterschool project run weekly by students. Come along to this give it a go session to find out more. 6.00pm to 7.00pm, Meeting Room 2, Union building.

RAG Fashion ShowCombining fashion, music and creativity this show gives our guests a night of entertainment and our charities funds to help make a difference. Buy your tickets from the RAG office (level two, Union building). Refectory.
