  • How important is Fortitude today? The typical hedonist today does not aspire to anything larger and higher, but settles for "feeling good". Such a life does not require fortitude. But a truly meaningful life, one whose meaning (direction) is determined in regards to man's true end which is the knowledge and love of the greatest good does indeed require a host of virtues belonging to fortitude.

  • St. Josemaria saysDont get lost in great thoughts of heroism. Stick to daily realities, seek perfection in ordinary work. There God awaits us. There we can tell him yes each day. And our response should truly be heroic, by striving to outdo ourselves, by not putting any limits.

  • St. Josemaria saysThe person with fortitude is one who perseveres in doing what his conscience tells him he ought to. He does not measure the value of a task exclusively by the benefit he derives from it, but rather by the service he renders to others. The strong man will at times suffer, but he stands firm, he may be driven to tears, but he will brush this aside. When difficulties come thick and fast, he does not bend.

  • VIRTUE OF THE MONTHFORTITUDEStand up for what is right.Revisit your goals and commit yourself to their fulfilment.Let go of people or things that separate you from God.Do not be afraid to know yourself and make yourself known.Be demanding but at the same time patient with yourself.Be conscious of acts of services you can render to the others. How to practice fortitude in ordinary life

  • As quoted by Nelson MandelaOur deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Fortitude is the virtue that disposes us to do what is good in spite of any difficulty.Man is naturally attracted to the good (real or apparent) and it is but natural for him to want it, to acquire it despite the difficulty. St. Thomas More showed this to us. Also,Fortitude is the love that bears everything for the sake of the object of our love. What is good should be loved, should be desired. St. Maximilian Kolbes love and concern for that family man moved him to offer his life.Fortitude is the virtue that disposes us to do what is good in spite of any difficulty.Man is naturally attracted to the good (real or apparent) and it is but natural for him to want it, to acquire it despite the difficulty. St. Maximilian Kolbes love and concern for that family man moved him to offer his life.A person who has fortitude thinks about the others. Kindness is the summit of fortitude. A person who lives fortitude learns to serve the others without thinking of himself. We should take note also that living fortitude would require patience. Many times the good that we want to achieve cant be acquire in a matter of days. You want to be pious, you have to pray everyday, patiently without hurry. That requires fortitude. You cannot be pure in a matter of weeks or months or even years. The fight for purity is a lifetime fight. One has to be patient. One has to live fortitude everyday to keep himself pure. You are a special breed of students. Your parents, teachers and sponsors have no other wish and hope for all of you than to be the best in any thing that your do. You are meant to be great! We have to strengthen you so you could be of great service to your family, to the society. You cant be great if you dont study well now! If you keep on complaining if you are given work to do. If you take things easily. If you dont take things seriously. If you dont remove from your system anything that separates you from God and thus preventing you from leading a life according to your nature, to be saint. Study well. Participate in the activities actively in spite of the sacrifices they entail. Fight your weaknesses. Do not be content with where you are now, with what you are doing now. Do more. Cada vez mas!
