Course Code PSV 211 – Part-time Course

Overview

This Certificate in Facials, Facial Massage and Skin Care involves the application of massage and cosmetic products to the face, neck and shoulders to improve the appearance of the skin. The qualification also deals with the promotion of skin care and skin care products, and advising the client on how to care for the skin.

Entry Requirements

Candidate must be over 18 years of age, literate in written and spoken English.

All candidates will be required to purchase own kit/tools and uniform.

Course Contents

Full facial technique including skin analysis, superficial and deep cleansing techniques, facial massage and mask applications and an introduction to the use of facial electrical (optional) and facial anatomy and physiology. Emphasis is on practical work with theory instruction to gain a fundamental understanding of the subject. Relevant Anatomy & Physiology, Equipment & product knowledge, Professional Ethics, Business Studies, Safety & Hygiene, Client Care & follow-up.

Provide facial skin care

Client care and communication in beauty-related industries

Level 3 Certificate in Facial Electrotherapy (optional)

3 months – Twice weekly (Mon & Thur) + Salon Practice + Theory Evaluation

Assessment

Demonstrate competence in realistic Academy working practice, Portfolio of Evidence, practical demonstration supported by written and oral questioning. Assignments, Case Studies. Final Practical & Theory Examinations by International VTCT Examiners who come over to our Academy end June/July.

Who is the course for?

Students seeking professional career in Beauty Therapy.

Entry Obligations - 100% attendance is expected. 90% is minimum accepted.

- Students must have full dexterity, good standard of personal presentation and the ability to work with others.

- Good English literacy and Communication Skills.

- In accordance to VTCT requirements, students will be expected to remove all visible jewellery including facial piercing during practical sessions. You will need to wear professional dress and shoes for practical sessions.

- You will need to provide models for all practical assessments.

- You will also be required to practice techniques outside Academy hours.

Learning Methods

- Students will learn through a combination of theory and practical work.

- During classes where only practical is being held, students may not work on each other. A model must be brought in.

- Assessments will be held throughout the course. These evaluations will include assessments in practical and written form.

- Assignments include Research and Professional Portfolios

- There will be a mandatory end evaluation, set by VTCT, which will include Oral, Practical and Written Assessments.

Overview

This qualification enables candidates to be able to provide general beauty treatments to clients in a safe and effective manner and to instruct the client on homecare. It is suitable for anyone with a general interest in the Beauty field as a career with a view to progressing on to Level 3 Beauty Therapist Diploma.

Candidate must be over 18 years of age, literate in written and spoken English. All candidates will be required to own kit/tools and uniform.

Course Contents

To provide facial treatments, be able to apply and instruct on make-up, provide manicure and pedicure treatments, provide wax depilation, shaping of eyebrows and tinting of eyelashes and eyebrows.
