Warhammer 40K Championships Event Rules (7/28/2015)

Greetings and Saluations! These are the event rules for the 2015 Michigan GT Warhammer 40K Championships! This is a really exciting and challenging time for the Warhammer 40K community, andthese rules were written with the goal of allowing the largest number of participants to have a memorable, enjoyable experience at the Michigan GT. Due to the fast pace of releases from Games Workshop, these rules may be clarified, tweaked, and/or modified as the Michigan GT approaches. No substantial changes will be made after August 30, 2015 (4 weeks prior to the 2015 Michigan GT). Rules that have been updated are listed in red.

Basic Rules: The Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition Rules and all relevant Games Workshop Errata and FAQs will be

used. In the case of a conflict between a printed and digital versions, the most recent update or FAQ will take precedence. http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Rules-Errata

The 7th Ed. ITC Tournament FAQ will be used to resolve additional rules disputes. https://www.frontlinegaming.org/community/40k-faq/

ITC FAQ entries that begin “For ITC format events” will NOT be used at the Michigan GT. Each player must bring a Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, the most currently published rules for all units

represented in their army and all materials needed to play a game/report the results including dice, measuring devices, templates, and a writing implement.

The models used in your army MUST be WYSIWYG and have a minimum of 3-colors. If illegal units or rules violations are found in a player's list, at a minimum, the models in violation will

be removed from all subsequent play. Tournament points may be deducted and award eligibility may beforfeited.

Tournament judge rulings are final and arguments or poor conduct by players will not be tolerated. Michigan GT reserves the right to remove players from the event or the Michigan GT itself with no refunds allowed.

The Michigan GT is a “Full Disclosure” tournament. Players must answer all questions and provide relevant rulebooks/information at their opponent's request.

Army Construction Rules: All players must field a Battle-Forged army of up to 1850 points. No Unbound armies allowed. Any number of detachments/formations may be taken with the following restrictions:

◦ Codexes, supplements, and any other official GW publication released prior to August 30, 2015, willbe allowed in this event.

◦ Self-allying is allowed (a Combined Arms Detachment and an Allied Detachment may come from the same faction).

Fortifications and fortification networks are allowed.Army Construction Rules (con't):

No more than 1 Eldar Wraithknight may be taken as part of your army. Lords of War that cost more than 615 points (including unit upgrades) are not allowed. Imperial Armor (Forgeworld) units are allowed, but all Imperial Armor units are 0-1. Imperial Armor

weapon/turret options for a codex unit are NOT bound by this limitation. Only the most current rules for any particular unit are allowed. NOTE: Some of allowable units are in the most recent Apocalypse rulebook, these are exceptions to the general exclusion of the book.

All players must bring a minimum of 7 copies of their army list to the Michigan GT. Handwritten army lists are discouraged.

Games/Missions Scoring: The Michigan GT 40K Championships will consist of 5 games lasting 3 hours each. Time remaining in each round will be announced periodically. Players should not attempt to start a

new game turn if they do not feel that both players can finish the turn. When the 5-minute warning is given, no additional game turns should be started.

Each mission will be unique, but all missions will share the following characteristics:◦ All missions will have both an Eternal War and Maelstrom of War component. ◦ Players will use the standard tactical objective deck. Players whose primary detachment comes

from a faction that modifies the standard tactical objective deck MUST use their faction's tactical objectives. Tactical Objectives will be utilized as follows:▪ Tactical Objectives will be drawn at the END of a player turn. They may not be achieved until

that player's NEXT turn. No tactical objectives can be achieved on the first turn.▪ No additional tactical objectives will be drawn from turn 5 onwards.▪ Players may discard 1 tactical objective at the end of their turn as normal. This discard will

occur before new tactical objectives are drawn.▪ Tactical Objectives that cannot possibly be achieved by the end of the game may be

immediately discarded and a replacement drawn. For the purpose of this rule, the potential existence of summoned units does not count as being possible.

▪ All tactical objectives that award random (i.e. d3) VPs instead award 2 VPs.◦ All missions will use the random game length rules.◦ If one player is wiped out or concedes, the game immediately ends at the end of that game turn.

The surviving player automatically achieves all “Eternal War” objectives. Tactical objectives will be scored as normal.

◦ At the end of the game, players will compare their VP totals. Battle points will be awarded based on the VP difference between the two players. If a player's opponent concedes, the other player will receive bonus battle points (to a maximum of 50/game).

Pairings for the first game will be randomly determined. Subsequent games will be seeded by Battle Points first, then by Battle Record and then randomly within those divisions.

Appearance/Theme Scoring: The following scoring matrix will be used to judge appearance.Theme The army as a whole would only occur with the coming of the Warhammer 40K apocalypse. 0

The army as a whole could be explained in the Warhammer 40K universe. 5The army as a whole needs little to no explanation to fit into Warhammer 40K mythos. 10The army as a whole is an iconic representation of the grim dark future of Warhammer 40K 15

Model Basing Bare plastic bases. 0 Basic one flock, no paint. 4Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock, no painting. 8Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock; with clean painted edges. 12Diorama-like bases with high attention to detail. 16

12

Extreme: Extreme conversions, which could be: scratch built conversion or sculpt of an entire model, a large amount of models with difficult conversions (see above), or the entire army is extremely converted.

16

Advanced Skills (ONLY judge this section if 30 points were awarded on Initial Overall Impression)

No advanced techniques. 0 The models have a basecoat with a shade and highlight color. 5The models shaded using layering with highlights/blending (but the blending is not seamless) 10The models have been shaded using seamless blending 16
