Watered down truth It seems everyone has their own truth these days. They say it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere. What matters they say is that it works for them. They also say people should not impose their views on others. To give it a name it is “Religious Pluralism” which has even seeped into the Christian church. It basically means that there are many ways to god.

But Jesus said it plainly:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” ( John 14:6)

Peter put it this way:

“… Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Paul summed it up with:

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” (1Timothy 1:15)

Like it or not we have an unpopular message and we are commissioned to present it boldly. Even though it is unpopular it is certainly “good news” for lost people.

When we face hardship or opposition or unjust criticism…

We must keep our thinking clear and our hearts strong.

People need to hear the message of the cross of Christ because...

“It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16)”

SAES - MOCK DISASTER AT JUNEE GRAIN SILO

On Saturday May 10 our SAES team was asked to cater for a “mock disaster” at the Junee Grain Silo. This was a great opportunity for the team to practice their skills in ‘real conditions’ with the very wet and cold weather playing its own part. This also meant that the team needed to put up the gazebo and marquee which was again good practice and both the teams endurance and the equipment were well tested. The team catered for people from the Riverina Emergency Management Office, NSW Police, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Ambulance, Volunteer Rescue Association, SES and Grain Corp employees. Overall we catered for 60 people providing both morning tea and lunch, we provided 80 meals and 165 refreshments.

Captain Phil McCall from DHQ came over for a visit and it was good to have a chat to him about the trailer and our concerns and wishes. All team members worked well together and were quick to get the jobs done that needed doing. We are very happy to be the coordinators of a great SAES team. Congratulations on a job well done; Team members: Stephen Palmer, Don Godwin, Rhonda Godwin, Heather Godwin, Margaret Plowman, Nicole Park (Cadet),

Ned Jones, Sharon Jones (Hunter Jones), Coordinators, Wagga Wagga

National Day of Thanksgiving is this weekend . . .National Day of Thanksgiving is this weekend . . .National Day of Thanksgiving is this weekend . . .National Day of Thanksgiving is this weekend . . .

We have so much to be thankful for - Thankful to God and to the people He has placed within our communities. Last weekend’s Red Shield Appeal once again highlighted how people are grateful to The Salvation Army for the support they have received, it makes it very special to focus this coming weekend on Thanking God and Thanking each other.

But we don’t want this spirit of Thanksgiving to end here . . . This section of the newsletter will remain a feature each week, however, we need input from you for the content. Each week we will feature a Thanksgiving point shared from a Corps/Centre in our Division. Please send your Thanksgiving points to Sharon Cobcroft via email. To start this off here is a Thanksgiving point from DHQ . . . . . "I've been reading a new book: "Billy Graham: Leading with Love - 5 Timeless Principles for Effective Leaders". DHQ is thankful for getting to work with a brilliant group of leaders, managers and volunteers who are united in the way they reflect Christ and lead with love!"
