Carol Catherine (CC) Lacombe Parents: John & Carly Lacombe
Carly and John found St. Simon’s when looking for a
warm and loving local Christian church. Since then,
they have been grateful to have the community’s sup-
port during Carly’s surgeries and time in the hospital,
as well as during C.C.’s birth and time in the NICU. They look forward to
raising C.C. in the St. Simon’s family and with the values espoused here.
Carol Catherine will be baptized by her uncle in the Greek Orthodox tradition
at a later time. Today we welcome her into our community at St. Simon’s
with a special blessing.
Matthew James Parkhouse Parents: Steve & Jaime Parkhouse
Our family lives in Arlington Heights. We have three
children: Owen (7), Lily (6) and Matthew, who was
born in March. Our family has attended St. Simons for
a couple of years. We came to St. Simons because we
wanted a church with a good children's program. Our older children love at-
tending Sunday School and the Eucharistic Explorers class. We want our
children to be brought up with a good religious foundation. We feel very wel-
come at St. Simons, and we are excited to have Matthew baptized at this
time. Outside of church, school, and work, we enjoy playing soccer, swim-
ming, golf and tennis. Lily is also enrolled in dance through the Arlington
Heights Park District. We enjoy beach vacations and visiting the family lake
home on Torch Lake, Michigan.
Thomas Patrick Wood Parents: Tom & Meghan Wood
Our family first started coming to St Simon’s about 4
years ago. We spent a few years exploring other
churches but eventually found our way back to St.
Simon’s. We chose to come back to St Simon’s because
we feel most comfortable with the church community
and message. We love how open and welcoming the
church has been to our family. It’s very important for us to raise our children
with faith in a church where we all feel most at home. We are choosing bap-
tism for Thomas at this time because we believe baptism is an important first
step and milestone in his spiritual life. We look forward to continuing to raise
Thomas in the local missions and ministries of St. Simon’s.
We Welcome the Newly Baptized
Welcome! We’re so glad to have you with us.
St. Simon’s is a joyful and hopeful com-
munity that welcomes all those who
yearn for the love of Christ.
A few things to note:
Today’s service is found in the bulle-
tin. Music that is not included in the
bulletin is found in the blue Hymnal.
Restrooms are at the bottom of the
stairs in the main entrance.
Please ask the ushers to direct you
to the Nursery and Church School
should you be desirous of these
options for your children.
Please join us for Coffee Hour after
the service.
Interested in learning more, please
fill out a welcome card and pick up a
“New to St. Simon’s” booklet in the
entry.
Children, you are welcome as full par-
ticipants in our worship. We are de-
lighted by your presence.

Eucharist Explorers—My Favorite Part . . .
Finn Haggerty My favorite thing was
learning the Ten Com-
mandments.
Patrick Haggerty My favorite thing was learning that Jesus broke down all
the walls so everyone could see him.
Andrew Moreth My favorite thing was when Pastor Elizabeth talked
about the baptismal font and then getting to learn about
my baptism.
JT Moreth I liked learning about the baptismal font and seeing pic-
tures of my own baptism.
Lily Parkhouse I liked the bead lesson because I liked talking about the
different things that I am. I am a daughter and I do
dance.
Owen Parkhouse I liked the bead lesson because I liked talking about why
I'm special. I think it is special that I am left-handed.
Zach Rogers My favorite thing was when we went around the church
and all the various rooms, baptismal font, and Stained
Glass window pictures were explained.
George Sallade My favorite thing was learning about the stained glass
windows.
Holy Baptism is understood as full initiation into
Christ’s Body, which means that all baptized per-
sons may receive Holy Communion regardless of
age. Our “first” communion may be on the day of
our Baptism.
Learning about our baptism and communion,
however, is a life-long process of being a disciple
of Jesus. A group of our children have spent the
last four months learning about the meaning of
their baptism and the Eucharist. We are so proud
of their commitment to this exploration—and it
continues.
Charlie Fitzgerald I loved learning about and making the stained
glass windows.
Jack Fitzgerald I loved learning about the Ten Commandments.
Kate Foley My favorite part was learning about stained glass
windows. They represent God and Jesus and
other famous people that lived in that time. My
favorite window is when Jesus was born because
he's a really nice guy.
Tyler Foley My favorite part was making the stained glass
windows, making the cross bracelets with the
beads, and learning what Pastor Elizabeth wears
and why she wears the green stuff.
