Scripture Matthew 28:16-20 NT Page 34

Sermon Series: Risen Sermon Go...into all the world Rev. Jamie Armstrong I like the story Wayne Cordeiro tells about a bakery he knew about. It was located in a bad part of town. The bakery was small, rundown, and nondescript. Yet at 5:00 a.m. every morning the aroma of delicious bread emanated from that bakery. People would line up around the block to get their hands on that bread. That is a parable for us as the church. It is not about appearances or gimmicks; it is simply about offering the bread of life. People are so spiritually hungry that all we have to do is offer the bread of life with passion and authenticity, and they will come from all over to taste it.

Does the sweet smell of Christ emanate from your life? Are you sharing your witness? Are you letting your light shine?

The unavoidable truth is that as Christians we are called to bear witness, to testify to the hope that is within us, to tell people about Jesus--to make disciples. Now, this may scare some of you to death. But, take heart and listen closely. By the grace of God, you are able to preach. You don't do it on your own power. This is why Jesus said, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the age." Jesus is always with us, helping us and empowering us to share the good news.

Hymn of Response No. 308 (vs. 3) Thine Be the Glory (from Judas Maccabeus) G. F. Handel

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of Life! Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife.

Make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love; bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son; endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.

Children’s Spring Musical Sunday, May 1 (5:00 pm) First UMC Fellowship Hall

Not Your Average Joe Starring: Children's Ministries (Pre-K through 5th grade)

Sunday, May 1st 5:00 pm First UMC Fellowship Hall The classical Old Testament story of Joseph is retold in the exuberant times and music of the 50's. It's surfer beats, leather jackets, and surf boards, but the gospel truth remains the same...trust the Lord with all your heart.

That Joe--he's so dreamy! The year is 1959, and at the family drive-in, Papa Jake's Fries and Shakes, things are hoppin'! But favored son Joe always seems to have his nose in a Good Book. When the patriarch of the family, Papa Jake, gives Joe his prized leather jacket and turns his business over to him for the summer, things get gnarly. With some "help" from his jealous siblings, Joe finds himself unexpectedly aboard a woody wagon headed to faraway land of sand, strange customs, and a Pharoh...er, Great Kahuna...the beach! The ups and downs of the journey remind Joe God is with Him, and the hurricane force of a food crisis teaches Joe and his reunited family the power of forgiveness.
