Overview

Weapon type: two handed anti-cavalry sword.Art style: FantasyIs going to be 1,80m in length; the handle can be resized meaning that the 1,80m is the length the sword will start with. Blade and handle made out of alloy steel to make it shock resistant, durable and to increase corrosion resistance in certain environmental conditions.The blade will be serrated. The handle wrapping will be worn out and made from leather in red colour. At the bottom of the handle there is rectangle that is split in half and moved apart, when the pieces are pushed back together it enables the user to extend the handle to his liking.The blade will be emitting a light black aura.

This weapon is from Darksiders and I am showing this image to show of the length and art style of my weapon.

My 3D model idea is a weapon . The weapon is going to be a two handed anti-cavalry sword that has a fantasy design and art style. The weapon will have parts that were inspired by Darksiders ,so the weapon will have a unique body design. The art style is fantasy so its going to have some kind of aura emitting from it to make it so people will know is a magical weapon. The blade colour will be silver with rough finish on it and will have curved out symbols going through the length of the blade. At first it was meant to be a normal two handed sword but after playing fantasy games such as Skyrim and Darksiders I had to make it an anti cavalry sword because it was very unique. I got the idea for my weapon from playing those games and liking the look of them I wanted to combine them both. The weapon is designed to cut both the horse and the man with one swing, so it has a very sharp serrated blade and is not too heave because is made out of alloy steel. The weapon belongs in a fantasy/RPG game because it has the art style and the look of a sword that looks like it would belong in that type of setting. The sword makes scary noises because it contains absorbed souls from defeated enemies.

Inspiration

My weapon design was inspired by weapons from 2 different games the first game being Darksiders and the second one being Skyrim. Both of the game have amazing weapons but only few of them inspired me to come up with my design.

First weapon that inspired me is the “Angelic Lance” that is used by the regular angel soldiers in Darksiders, because of this weapon I decided to have an adjustable length of the handle.

Second weapon that inspired me is a weapon called “Chaoseater” which is the sword of the main character in Darksiders, it absorbs the chaos from defeated enemies , because of this weapon I decided that my weapon will be able to absorb souls of defeated enemies.

Third weapon that inspired me is the “Armageddon Blade” which is the ultimate sword in Darksiders, because of this weapon I decided to have symbols carved on the blade of my swords design.

Fourth weapon that inspired me is a weapon called “Ancient Nord Sword” is a very common sword in Skyrim that you can find in any ruins, tombs and burial crypts. Because of this weapon I decided not to have my blade straight.

Fifth and last weapon that inspired me is a weapon called “Deadric Great sword” it is a demonic designed weapon used by Dremora in Skyrim, because of this weapon I decide to have my swords blade serrated.

Drawings/Sketches

This is a sketch of one of my weapon ideas that I had. This is an idea that I drew from being inspired by the games that I play, images of other weapons that I saw online and magazines.

This is my second weapon idea that I drew to represent a different cross guard. The sword has a thick outline to show all the body curves better and to make it stand out. This is just one sketch and not the final design but I intend to use the handle from my first sketch and the blade form the second one with couple of changes, these changes are; carved symbols in the middle of the blade going through the length of it, serrated edge of the blade and add a dark aura around the blade.

This is a test model made on lightwave 3d modeler, is game legal but it has 946 polygons which is way too many polygons for such simple design. By making this model I improved my modelling skills and now by knowing what I did wrong I can improve my final design. The handle is good size so I will leave it as it is but make the pommel for it, I will also be making the blade wider and serrated.

Weapon Model Test

This is my backup idea in case I want to change it later. If I was to change my idea I was going to make a spike grenade. So I have created this model so when I will change my idea I will have something to start with so it will take me less time to finish.

Texture Examples

These are some of the sword skins that I looked at and in my opinion these are the best looking ones I found. I was thinking of using similar handle wrapping texture to “dragon’s fang” and “grim justice” texture for my blade.

Legal&Ethical

• Ethical issues are the issues people have with the game because of some aspect of the game that would offend someone because of it being racist or going against their beliefs. It might be because a weapon has a reference to something discriminating such as as having a racial stereotype. When making a weapon the developer has to remember about the age rating of the game is being made for, because a game for young children can’t have weapons like rifles that are designed for killing people. When developing the game, the developer has to make sure there are no ethical issues with the game because they could cause some serious problems for the company and it could affect the reputation of the company meaning they can lose money. When making my weapon I have to remember to check if there are any ethical issues and that the weapon is targeted for the right audience.

• Legal issues can happen when a weapon is copied from another game without the permission form the rightful owner. When making a weapon the developer has to remember not to break any copyrights such as using trademark of another company. Some weapons might look like weapons from another game but it can be ok as long is a weapon that is commonly used in other game and is not owned by anybody, such weapon would be a great sword because is commonly used in a lot of RPG games, the only thing is that you need to create the model yourself and not use a model created by someone else. My weapon will be original because I used pats from weapons in other games but I have also come up with my own parts of it.
