Editing Evaluation

Whilst in the editing stage we used a range of techniques and styles to edit our clips for our film. Within the editing stage we used edits such as transitions, sound editing, and effects, trimming clips and adding titles.

Trimming.

Firstly when we imported the recorded clips into Final Cut Pro we converted them into the right format and changed aspects such as the quality and size of the clips. We then selected the clips we wanted to use: when then dragged them onto the timeline in the order that we wanted (shown below in the screen shot).

We then trimmed the clips to the length/duration required this process was to eliminate unwanted and un-necessary recordings in which were not needed.

Transitions.

We added a range of transitions in-between selected clips on the timeline so there would be some sort of transitional effect to link them together for example a fade(as shown below Kayla’s’ scene is being faded by the use of a transition).

This editing technique was key as we felt that it made the film flow better and show knowledge and understanding of how to use the provided software Final Cut.

In the editing process we also used titles: the purpose of titles was to provide the viewers with extra information that helps them understand what is going on in the film

(as shown below).

However titles in our film were also used in credits for example to display names of those involved such as ‘directed by’ etc.
