Sargasso sea- sargasso is a word from Portugese meaning air bubble. The Portugese were the first to discover an area of the Atlantic where there are large masses of Sargassum sea weed. It is the only sea without land boarders. It is surrounded by ocean currents. Ships famously get trapped in the duldrums in this area. The water is known for being deep blue and clear. Also it is where American and European river eels hatch.
