What does CC: and BCC: do?

CC stands for Carbon Copy- you are sending an exact copy of what you sent to the person in the “TO:” line

BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy- you are sending an exact copy of what you sent to the person in the “TO:” line, but that person does not know that you sent a copy out
