Welcome to East Gull

Lake, Minnesota! Thank you for choosing our city as your new home. Enclosed in

this brochure you will find information to help you become

acquainted with East Gull Lake in Cass County, Minnesota. Our

City is located 15 miles north of Brainerd off Highway 371 on the

southeast side of Gull Lake. We hope you will enjoy the lakes

area.

City Information

City Hall

City Code of Ordinances The City Ordinance is available for viewing on the City Website and at City Hall. The City of East Gull

Lake has a Planning and Zoning Ordinance that lists all regulations the City follows when there will be

any structural changes to your residence, i.e. deck, addition to existing structure, garage, change to

septic system, and you must apply for a land use permit. You also need to apply for a permit for

shoreline work if there is heavy equipment involved. Please contact City Hall with any questions.

City Council Council meetings: first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm. (except holidays, date then to be determined)

About the Duty Officer

The Minnesota Duty Officer Program provides a single answering point for local and state agencies to

request state-level assistance for emergencies, serious accidents or incidents, or for reporting

hazardous materials and petroleum spills. The duty officer is available 24 hours per day, seven days per

week. If there is an immediate threat to life or property, call 911 first.

Gull LakeGull LakeGull LakeGull Lake lies six miles north of

Brainerd in Cass County and Crow Wing County –

one of the largest lakes in the Brainerd area. There

are a total of seven Gull Lakes in Minnesota, but

Gull Lake of Brainerd is the largest in area and

shoreline.

Basic Lake Stats:

· Surface Water Area: 9,418 Acres

· Shore length: 38 miles

· Maximum length: 15 miles

· Maximum width: 2 miles

· Maximum depth: 100 ft.

· Median depth: 30 ft.

Gull Lake is part of the Gull Chain of Lakes, a collec-

tion of eight connected lakes and connecting chan-

nels covering 13,000 acres. There are over 2,500

homes on the chain that are both year round and

seasonal.

Gull Lake is fifteen miles long and is ideal for swim-

ming, May to September and is also excellent for

fishing, water skiing, boating, or sailing. Gull Lake

Resort is centrally located between Brainerd and

Nisswa (10 Miles) and is convenient to many attrac-

tions, casual or fine dining locations, horseback rid-

ing, and a Federal dam with Indian Burial grounds.

City Tennis Courts City Tennis Courts are open to the public on

a first come, first serve basis...no pun in-

tended.

If there are players waiting, playing time

should be limited to:

Singles - 1/2 hour

Doubles - 1 hour

The courts are for tennis only and it is en-

couraged that no one enter the courts with-

out tennis shoes.

East Gull Lake Airport East Gull Lake Airport is located approximately 135 miles from MSP Airport. It is a 2618' x 160' grass run-

way and is closed in the winter months. Information on the City's airport can be found at: http://

East Gull Lake provides a wide range of recreational opportunities to residents and visitors

throughout the year. In addition to providing private and public access to our beautiful lakes,

golf courses, an extensive trail system, and the US Corps of Engineer’s campground facility.

US Army Corp of Engineers -

Gull Lake Recreation Area US Army Corps of Engineers provides a beautiful campground, playground, beach and boat landing at the

Gull Lake Recreation Area at the Gull Lake Dam (10867 E Gull Lake Drive).

Sites 1-14 are not able to be reserved; they are left available for a first come first serve basis.

Sites 15-40, with the exception of 36, 38 and 40 (Host sites), are able to be reserved.

The boat landing by the Corps of Engineers is a public landing and has a beach and a park area as well as

parking available.
