Cricket season is back!!! League games started last Saturday! Firstly we would like to welcome all players at Wycombe House.

MATCH REPORTS: First Team – SKLP 65-9 n 45 overs vs Wycombe House 66-5 Wycombe house kicked off the 2014 league season in fine style with an emphatic victory at home versus SKLP. Following promotion to division 1 last season Wycombe House went into the season full of confidence and in great spirit and looking to build on last year. And the Jersey Road club got off to the perfect start. On a damp and drizzly day skipper Alex Thamby won the toss and put SKLP into bat. The decision was fully justified as Alex Thamby ripped through the top order, reducing SKLP to 18 for 3. Under immense pressure SKLP went on the defensive. Tight bowling from Ibrahim & Zahid Bissem restricted the run flow as SKLP seemed content to wait for the rain. The rain came but play soon resumed and Carl Burdett & Dilesh Perera combined twice in quick succession to Run Out two players in similar fashion. Alex then turned to the Elahi spin twins (Sohail & Mehboob) - who upped the pressure and picked up the remaining wickets -as SKLP were bowled out for just 66 in 43 overs. In reply House were frustrated by the constant rain interruptions - going off 4 times in the run chase. But the batsmen dug in and made the most of the brief opportunities at the crease to make the 67 runs required with the loss of 5 wickets to claim victory inside 22 overs - and a great 10 points to start the season. Second Team – Wycombe House 153-9d 49 overs vs Southgate 80-3 18 overs
First game of the season for Wycombe House 2nd XI was against Southgate CC 2nd XI.
From what started to be a rather dull start to the season with a rain forecast scaring off many teams, we
managed to get a game on. Summary of game, Southgate won toss with excellent display of batting coming
from Aamir with 38 not out and Bilal 30 and the rest chipping in. Bilal also opened the bowling and took 2
early wickets until the rain came again. Good start with a lot of positives coming through.
Let's just hope the rain stays away. #fingerscrossed

Ground work - Whenever you are free please make yourself available to help with preparing the wicket & square before match days either the day before or on the morning of a match as you will see with Jess rolling the wicket on Friday & a big big thank you to Aamir, Adnan, Fiz & Hanif for helping Alex put the covers on on Friday making sure we got the game on the following day and then winning the game. Much appreciated!!!!!!
