Progress over PerfeCTionIt is a privilege to be in a position where our actions can contribute to make things better; better for people, better for our community and better for the environment.

At Kwintet we believe that our overall business performance is intrinsically linked with our performance in the environmental and social realm. However, we also believe that the greatest reward of our efforts in the realm of sustainability is to see the concrete results in the form of good working conditions for the people that we depend on. Kwintet embraces the notion that all corporations have a social responsibility that they must act upon. On a fundamental human level we act because we care, and because we can.

As we always seek to strengthen and maintain our customer relationships, we have the same approach to our suppliers. Through our Sustainability Program we have started a journey to ensure a sustainable and ethical business, where long-term results overrule any quick fixes. Instead of claiming that we have a supply chain of perfection, we cherish continuous progress in suppliers’ demonstration of sustainable working conditions in their manufacturing sites. The path to success in this regard comes through dialogue, accountability, transparency, and an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Code of ConduCTAs we believe we have a responsibility towards everyone who contributes to our success, it is also important for us to select business partners that share our commitment to upholding high standards for labour practices. Kwintet’s Code of Conduct specifies our standards in relation to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

susTainable ComPlianCe ProgramIn order to continuously have the quality of our CSR supply chain program re-assessed, we decided to enter into a partnership with an external compliance partner that can provide verification and input. Kwintet is therefore a member of Fair Wear Foundation - a multi-stakeholder initiative that supports and promotes good labour conditions in garment production.

HigH qualiTy ProduCTs are safe ProduCTsAt Kwintet we see a direct link between sustainability and high quality standards for our products. It is therefore obvious that all our products must comply with the most stringent requirements in this respect. All textile and leather products shall therefore, at least, meet the criteria specified in the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and comply with REACH legislation;• Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a globally uniform testing

and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production limiting the use of harmful chemical substances to protect human ecological safety of textiles.

• REACH is the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. All Kwintet direct product suppliers must sign our Restricted Substances List. The list entails all chemical substances that according to REACH legislation are restricted to be present in products imported to the EU.

we ProTeCT PeoPle in HaZardous environmenTsWenaas has for more than 80 years contributed to creating a safe working environment for our customers and users. A pioneer within safety workwear, we have transitioned from our origin as a Norwegian, family-owned business to becoming a leading, global provider of cutting edge, head-to-toe safety solutions, and part of Kwintet, the largest workwear supplier in Europe.

We are proud of our Norwegian heritage and the principles of our legacy which are inherent in our behaviours and business practices; entrepreneurship, skill, integrity and a strong passion for our work. These principles have been fundamental drivers of our success, and are still notably part of who we are today.

Our mission is to offer cutting edge safety concepts within heavy workwear and personal protective equipment to safeguard users from head-to-toe without compromising on functionality, comfort and durability. Through our long experience in protective workwear, we have gained exceptional expertise in safety requirements enabling us to drive industry standards and provide a complete range of proven and fit for purpose head-to-toe solutions that meet workplace regulations worldwide, making us an ideal single source partner for all global market segments.

Our people have an indepth knowledge of industry standards and safety requirements, and we take ownership of the entire product development process from idea to commercialization to secure quality throughout the process. Being part of the Kwintet group provides us with scale, capacity and expertise that enables innovative development of our own technical fabrics and unique design solutions, supply chain efficiency and superior third party supplier relations making it possible to offer cutting edge solutions at a competitive price/value ratio. This effectively eliminates the need for multiple suppliers and the costs associated with fragmented supply chains making Wenaas a competitive and fully integrated one stop shop environment for all workwear and personal protective solutions.

We have for many years been the leading and preferred supplier of head-to-toe safety solutions. Continuous product innovation and close cooperation with our customers and users to understand their needs will ensure that they continue to prefer Wenaas.

Wenaas enjoys a strong position as the leading supplier to the global offshore oil and gas industry supplying operators, drilling contractors and service companies.

As an organisation, successfully providing head-to-toe safety solutions to the oil and gas sectors for over 30 years we have developed a deep understanding of our customer requirements and we continue to improve and adapt our operation to exceed customer expectations. On a daily basis several million people are wearing our garments whilst doing their job safely, comfortably and with peace of mind.

Work in the oil and gas industry happens under extreme climatic conditions bringing high levels of expectation and demand on workwear and personal protective equipment. Through many years of experience, research and feedback from a large number of operators and contractors we have developed and tested a wide range of solutions for different climates and regions. We can therefore offer our customers proven and tested fit for purpose products suited for all climatic conditions.

Through our global distribution network we offer customers our Local Global Supply (LGS) chain concept enabling stock and management of the selected product range in the customers’ preferred location, thus reducing sourcing time and complexity.

Wenaas has undergone huge transformation from its early origins 80 years ago, bringing many exciting improvements and benefits for our customers over the years. Wenaas has been part of the Kwintet Group, the largest workwear supplier in Europe for some time, but more recently the business re-structured to ensure that as well as having great financial stability, in the future our customers will be able to take full advantage of the benefits our global strength, knowledge and best practice expertise have to offer. These changes will make us more efficient and dynamic going forward, together with the flexibility to respond more swiftly to changes in market needs, maximising service and value for our customers. As part of this re-organisation we have created a separate Oil & Gas division, based in Aberdeen, with a team of professionals, dedicated to the specific needs of the Oil & Gas industry, to ensure we remain focussed on our ambition to continue to be the number one supplier of choice for head-to-toe safety solutions for the next 80 years.

Flame retardant workwear

Wenaas has manufactured and supplied safety clothing and personal protective equipment to the oil and gas industry for over 30 years. In this time we have become one of the market leaders in flame retardant clothing to industry across the globe. The Wenaas brand is synonymous with renowned expertise in developing and providing the correct solution for our customers and users, balancing protection, comfort, functionality and durability.

Our collection of flame retardant workwear is offered in a range of fabrics and designs, expertly engineered to provide the user with the correct level of protection when it matters the most.

Gore® pyrad™ FabriC teCHnoloGyGORE-TEX® heat and flame garments with GORE® PYRAD™ fabric technology provide durable wind- and waterproofness with optimised breathability in combination with heat, flame and antistatic protection ensuring that the garments are ideal to withstand the most extreme offshore hazards and foul weather. The lightness and softness of the fabric offer improved wearer comfort compared to traditional foul weather flame retardant fabrics.

proteX®

The permanently flame retardant Protex® fibre has been blended with cotton for a natural feel and maximum comfort. The antiflame properties of Protex® are a part of the fibre resin of the Protex® fibre and as a consequence cannot be removed. There is no deterioration in flame retardant performance after either repeated washing or normal use over time. Due to excellent charring characteristics the garment will not melt or drip.

nomeX®

Nomex® is the brand for protective solutions based on a family of highly heat and flame resistant aramid fibres invented and produced by DuPont™. The high level of protection does not come from chemical treatment, but is engineered into the molecular structure of the fibre. This means that the heat and flame resistance of Nomex® is inherent and permanent, and that the protective performance will last the life of the garment. In addition to managing extremes of heat through advanced thermo technology, Nomex® protective apparel also delivers optimum comfort and durability.

pyrokonFlame retardant PU/Trevira CS that is light, soft and comfortable, even at low temperatures. All seams are welded to resist moisture.

pbi® matriXPBI® Matrix is a state-of-the-art outer shell fabric used in turn-out gear for fire-fighters. The fabric offers outstanding flame and heat protection in combination with superior resistance to wear and tear.

oFFsHoreThe Wenaas offshore collection is designed for use in offshore oil and gas industries with specific demands for flame retardant garments that are comfortable, durable and with minimal shrinkage.

arC proteCtionOur arc protection clothing is designed for comfort and protection using the most recent fabrics and technology available. The Wenaas twin layered Nomex® arc coverall is designed to be lightweight and comfortable yet achieving levels of protection beyond the weight normally used to achieve 7kA. Utilising DPF Power Nomex® fabric, its clever grid-like weave construction forms small pillows of air when hit by the incredibly high levels of arc energy.

mUltinorm proteX®

Our Multinorm Protex® collection is certified after a series of EN standards and is optimal for users who may be exposed to several hazards simultaneously where garments just having flame retardant properties are not sufficient. The winter garments in the range utilise a laminated fabric that is soft and supple even in cold temperatures. The laminate breathes so moisture can escape but not enter, ensuring that the user stays dry and warm.

w112 Fire and emerGenCy For more than 25 years, Wenaas has developed and provided clothing for front line fire-fighters under the Wenaas112 brand name. The collection has emerged through a close collaboration with brigade users to find the optimal fit, functionality and comfort to meet their precise needs. We offer a selection of high quality hearing protection from renowned producers to meet different user needs. Our assortment includes the following types of hearing protection:

• Ear muffs: Passive, electronic and communication ear muffs.

Our ear muffs are available as head band or helmet mounted and can be used together with the most common head protection products on the market.

• Ear plugs: Disposable and reusable.

CHOOSING THE CORRECT HEARING PROTECTIONWhen choosing hearing protection, key factors to take into account are the noise environment, and the comfort and functionality required. Our portfolio of hearing protection is carefully labelled to facilitate selecting the appropriate hearing protection.

The products are labelled ‘H’, ‘M’ or ‘L’ to denote the mute value that should fit the user’s noise environment, where ‘H = High’, ‘M = Medium’ and ‘L = Low’ frequency of vibration. In addition, the SNR (Single Noise Rating) method is applied to calculate the total noise level; The “noise level measured in the working environment in dB” minus “hearing protection SNR value” should never exceed 70-80 dB.

HEARING PROTECTION

EN STANDARDSIn accordance with the requirements of the European Directive on PPE (89/686/EEC), all hearing protection should be CE marked, and certifications must meet the requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE), category 2. Our range of hearing protection is CE marked and certified according to current European standards.

We offer a comprehensive range of respiratory protection products provided by leading manufacturers. Our partners are carefully selected because they possess a thorough knowledge in their field and have access to advanced technology.

WE OFFER TWO TYPES OF RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:

1. Filtering respirators: Remove contaminants in the air but do not protect against oxygen deficiency and toxic gases.

Available in three different types: • Full and half masks with replaceable filters.• Filtering half masks.• Motor assisted (battery powered) respirators.

2. Supplied air respiratory protection: Protects against pollution and oxygen deficiency by isolating the user from the environment, providing clean and fresh replacement air.

Available in two different types: • Compressor masks.• Portable self-contained equipment (e.g. compressed

air bottles).

Respiratory protection only protects when the equipment is properly fitted and used properly against the pollution for which it is intended. Proper maintenance is also important to achieve the desired effect throughout the product’s entire life cycle.

RESPIRATORYPROTECTION

EN STANDARDSIn accordance with the requirements of the European Directive on PPE (89/686/EEC), all respiratory protection products should be CE marked, and certifications must meet the requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE), category 3. Hand ProtectionSince 1998 we have designed and developed our own range of protective gloves under the Odin brand name. Product development is done in close cooperation with users to meet their needs, as well as with leading suppliers of quality materials. We are confident that the gloves we bring to market are of the highest quality and standard.

In 2012 we will start rebranding our range of Odin gloves to the recognised Wenaas brand name. Users of Odin gloves can, however, be confident that the well-known Odin quality and functionality remain unaffected as does our commitment to continuous product development to meet user needs, and ownership of the total value chain. The rebranding will create synergies that will enable us to strengthen and complete our head-to-toe offering under the Wenaas brand name.

In addition to the Odin assortment, we also offer an extensive range of gloves supplied by some of the most renowned industrial glove producers.

Our glove offering represents a full and comprehensive range of gloves produced in several qualities for a variety of applications and hazards.

leatHerGood leather is characterized as being breathable, flexible and durable. Finding the right quality leather to meet user needs, requires experience. We have this experience, and our producers have extensive knowledge and experience in tanning and finishing – important processes that de termine the final quality of the leather.

We offer protective gloves produced in different leather qualities;

Ox: Durable, thick grain leather that repels water well and provides good protection against heat. Superior wear resistance makes ox leather very suitable in gloves designed for rough use.

Pig: The leathers’ surface is quite porous making “breathability” better than, for example, ox leather. Pig leather becomes softer during use.

Goat: The longest lasting leather. A natural content of lanolin makes it extremely soft and flexible, even when wet. Goat leather resists water well, and offers a high level of dexterity with fine work.

FabricSimple fabric gloves designed as liners or for manufacturing protection (against e.g. fingerprints) are not considered as protective gloves and do not have to be CE marked. Inner gloves are also available in knitted fibre that provides excellent protection against heat and cuts.

nitrileNitrile gloves are the first all-round gloves for use with a variety of chemicals and some solvents. The material is durable and has good resistance against abrasion, cut and punctures. Nitrile gloves are available with a number of lining variants.

neoPreneSynthetic rubber with added resistance against strong acid compounds, oils and fats. Thick neoprene has excellent insulating properties against heat and cold (Note: Not for use with open flames). Neoprene is soft and supple but can solidify during storage. When the material comes into contact with hot water, it becomes silky soft. Neoprene gloves may be enhanced with a granulated surface, cotton and/or by flattening the material.

VinYl / PVcThin vinyl gloves are used for short-term protection. Common vinyl gloves should not be used in direct contact with food, since vinyl can migrate from the glove to the food. Thick PVC gloves with fabric linings have good resistance to acids.

lateX / rubberStrong elastic material that comes from the rubber plant. The gloves have a wide application area, and are resistant to crude oil, fat and solvents. Rubber gloves can be enhanced with cotton lining, synthetic components and curing increasing the resistance of the material. (Note: Pure latex in direct contact with skin may cause latex allergies).

cHemicalsAlways protect your hands when working with chemical substances as skin contact with chemicals can cause eczema, other skin disorders and even acute poisoning if handling particularly hazardous or large amounts of chemicals. Different quality gloves have different protective abilities. It is therefore imperative to assess the hazard posed to select a protective glove of the right quality ensuring that chemicals do not penetrate the glove.

wet worKIf hands are wet or moist for more than two hours per day, skin disorders like eczema can be developed. The same applies if wearing moist gloves. Always protect the hands with comfortable dry gloves if exposed to wet liquids/moisture for two or more hours per day. When using unlined gloves, it is recommended to use an inner cotton glove as well. This will absorb sweat and moisture from the hands and keep the wearer dry and comfortable.

cHecKlist• Make sure that the gloves used fit the purpose.• Ensure that the gloves are well fitted.• Inspect that chemicals are not about to penetrate the glove.• Wash hands thoroughly before putting on gloves and

after the work is finished.• Clean the outside of the gloves before taking them off,

thus avoid touching a dirty glove with your bare hands.• Make sure that the gloves are dry inside before putting them

on. Moist skin absorbs substances faster than dry skin.• Always have at least one extra pair of gloves readily

available.• Gloves that are damaged or about to be penetrated by

chemicals should be replaced immediately.

Heat resistant sole (HRO)

Gel cushioning in the heel.Shocks to the heel are effectively absorbed through a gel cushion located in the heel.

Nail protectionL-protection® gives protection from sharp objects penetrating the sole area and reaching the skin. Materials used can be steel or non-metallic aramid fibres.

ToecapAluminium toecap: An aluminium toecap achieves a weight reduction of 40% compared with steel. The lighter weight also improves balance.Composite toecap: A composite toecap is about 40% lighter compared to steel, giving better balance to the wearer. Composite toecaps are metal free and do not impact metal detectors.

HFC® - Heel and Forefoot Concept:Gel cushioning in the heel and forefoot. The first complete system ensuring that the heel and forefoot are protected from strain both when walking and when doing stationary machine work. This proprietary FORMA Wenaas system consists of elastic gel pads, located in the sole, which give the foot proper relief and shock absorption.

Complete Cushion System (CCS)This proprietary FORMA Wenaas system is designed to provide optimal shock absorption and strain reduction for the lower part of the body by using materials that offer long lasting comfort.

FORMA WENAAS gORE-tEX® SAFEtY FOOtWEARDesigned to keep the user dry and comfortable all year round. GORE-TEX® membrane and taped seams make this footwear 100% waterproof, while moisture is transported efficiently away. The footwear is tested and approved by strict quality requirements.

FORMA WENAAS MUltiNORM SAFEtY FOOtWEARDesigned to protect the wearer from multiple hazards. The Multinorm outsole is HRO heat resistant up to 300°C, and the footwear is EN ISO 20345 approved. ASTM 2413 05 DI insulating properties up to 14.000 volt make the Multinorm range especially suitable for utility workers.

EN StANDARDSWe offer safety footwear manufactured and tested to the standards supporting the European Directive on PPE (89/686/EEC).

EN ISO 20345 (replaces EN 345) Personal protective equipment – Safety footwear. European standard that specifies requirements for protective footwear.

For more information on EN standards and safety footwear classifications, see “Information” chapter.

Since 1953 we have designed and developed our own range of safety footwear under the FORMA brand name. FORMA safety footwear is well known for its high technological quality, and our product developers strive to always stay ahead in terms of quality, functionality, technology and design.

FORMA safety footwear is designed to meet the stringent requirements for safety. FORMA footwear meets the various safety classes specified in EN ISO 20345, and are produced from carefully selected materials that provide users with optimal protection and comfort.

In 2012 we will start rebranding our range of FORMA footwear to the recognised Wenaas brand name. Users of FORMA footwear can, however, be confident that the well-known FORMA quality and technology remains unaffected as does our commitment to continuous product development to meet user needs, and ownership of the total value chain. The rebranding will create synergies that will enable us to strengthen and complete our head-to-toe offering under the Wenaas brand name.

We supply not only a range of own branded safety footwear but also products from other leading suppliers of footwear to offer a comprehensive assortment to cover most work situations.
