An ideal locationThe college is located in the heart of fashionable Marylebone Village in the heart of London’s West End, just a short walk from the Wallace Collection gallery and the big name fashion designers in Regent Street and New Bond Street.

Students have easy access to art and design of the very highest quality, and visits to galleries and exhibitions play a significant part in the learning process.

The advantages of studying in Central London are considerable. For many, it will be the experience of a lifetime.

Practical trainingProgrammes are very practical in nature with the main emphasis being on creative work.

The Diplomas are taught entirely in studios rather than conventional classrooms as students are supported in small groups through their creative journey. All students have a space in the studios in which to exhibit their work as they gradually develop their sketchbooks and portfolios under the expert guidance of lecturers who have considerable experience of the sector and of teaching arts and fashion at London universities.

Senior academic staff also assist students with their choice of specialist areas and their university application.

Student welfare Our welfare team work hard to ensure that students are comfortably accommodated and well looked after.

For many students from outside London this will be their first time living away from home. The expertise of our team is second to none in providing them with the help and guidance they need.

Even before our students start their journey to London our Student Services team are working on their behalf, reserving their accommodation and arranging airport collection if required.

Then, once the course is under way, the team remains available to help the new students overcome any difficulties they may face in the first few weeks.

All in all it is our aim to make our students feel at home, and to provide the administrative and pastoral support that will allow them to concentrate on their studies, to obtain an excellent education and a globally recognised qualification.

MARYLEBONE.W1London is famous for its fashion designers and artists. Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Damien Hirst, Tracy Emin, Jonathan Saunders and Matthew Williamson all studied and began their careers here, and many leading artists and designers choose to exhibit their work in the city. For a career in the creative arts, London is the perfect place to begin.

Accommodation For those students new to London we can offer a range of accommodation options.

This includes comfortable, reasonably priced student residence accommodation within easy travelling distance to the college. The residences are located in some of the most desirable areas of London: Notting Hill, Bayswater, Swiss Cottage, Queensway etc. and provide comfortable half-board accommodation at competitive rates.

Assistance with finding other accommodation options, such as homestays and private apartments, is also available.

Access to top UK university degreesThe qualifications awarded on successful completion of our Foundation Diplomas are widely accepted by universities for entry to a range of degrees and every year our students gain places at leading universities.

In 2014/15 98% of those students who completed their Foundation Diploma course at WLC successfully passed and received their qualification.

76% of those students went on to gain admission to a UK university to study for an undergraduate degree. The remainder either went directly into work (7%) or decided to take a Gap Year.

Example pathways - Fashion DesignAs an example of the wide range of options available to our students, the following is a list of degree programmes to which WLC Fashion Design Foundation Diploma students have eligibility to apply.

This list is not the complete list of institutions that West London College students have gone on to in the past. It is merely a list of the most popular choices.

West London College has a formal progression partnership agreement with UAL which includes six Universities (Central St Martins, London College of Fashion, Chelsea College of Arts, Wimbledon College of Arts and London College of Communication). As a result of this partnership agreement, any student from WLC (that fits the course criteria and eligibility) is guaranteed an interview/portfolio review. In addition, the College has especially good relations with Heriot Watt, Kingston and UCA Rochester.

In 2015 students from our Fashion Design Foundation also progressed to study a wide range of Fashion and Textiles courses at Leeds University, Birmingham City, Manchester University, London College of Fashion, Kingston, Ravensbourne, Regents University, Istituto Marangoni, UCA Rochester, Winchester School of Art and in Europe, at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and Lennings Textilinstitut, Sweden.

Our short courses are designed to introduce students to new crafts and techniques, develop an idea from concept to creation and experiment with materials.

Courses are accessible to everyone and will suit those looking for a taster course in a new craft, as well as those who want to build on existing skills and develop their ideas. Some of our courses are aimed at those with a specific project in mind, maybe to build a portfolio with a view to further study, or to establish a start-up business in textile crafts.

Complete novices can learn a new skill, and finish the course with a piece or body of work they can be proud of. For those with some knowledge and experience, our teachers will help you improve your skills, teach you

some new techniques and encourage you to take your work in new directions.

The short courses are delivered by experienced tutors, many of whom also teach on the full-time Foundation Diploma courses. Classes are small and intimate so you will have plenty of one-to-one attention from your tutor who will cater to your level of ability.

NB. It is possible to join mid-way through many courses. Please ask for details.
