Before medical advances in laser technology, treatment solutions for people suffering from nerve damage, neuropa-thy, and muscle, ligament or tendon issues were surgically invasive, painful and ineffec-

tive. The Truth is that not all laser treatments are created equally. Some laser treatments options continue to be painful and invasive turning away, but at Ad-vanced Nerve & Health we know there is a better way. According to a national survey from the Morris Animal Foundation, the number one concern of the American pet owner today is cancer. Based on North Carolina State University estimates and the number of dog owners in the U.S., an average of 19 families lose their dog family member per minute to cancer.

But as many of us know personally, the current options can have physically devastating consequenc-es and often don't yield the desired results. Less than 20% of dogs diagnosed with Stage IV B-cell Lymphoma will live 2 years post diagnosis with chemotherapy, surgery, and rescue therapies. CAVU's Solution Our vision is a world in which the immense power of the cellular immunes system can be harnessed to control cancer to improve quality of life. Our belief is that our furry family members should have ac-cess to personalized immuno-services. CAVU wants to offer our veterinarians the latest, pro-active, immune-guided services to help improve treatment decision making. It's Personal Our Founder and CEO, Dr. Colleen O'Connor, lost two dogs to cancer. She watched helplessly as her wonderful Bichon Frise and loyal Toy Poodle lost their quality of life due to progressing tumors and lack of successful treatments. These losses motivated her. She has combined her knowledge and experience of oncology, immunology, and cellular therapies with her unbridled passion to provide our pets with a chance at a longer, more meaningful life. Cutting edge research at CAVU Biotherapies is integral to finding cures and novel treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases. We are going to focus immunotherapy research on dogs, cats, horses, and eventually, humans. Our goal is to become the premier personalized immunotherapy company for our pets and our-selves. To accomplish our goal, we are going to think "outside the crate" by developing new clinical trials, protocols, tests, immunological counseling, and therapies.

CAVU MEANS "CEILING AND VISIBILITY UNLIMITED”

Come join us, so all species can work together to create a world that's full joy and possibilities.

That is our view on the impact and future of cancer immunotherapy. Our ambition is to change the world by keeping pet families intact longer while becoming the global leader in immune-guided per-sonalized medicine. Our focus is not only on ending canine cancer, but translating the personalized immunotherapies to treat horses, cats, humans and autoimmune diseases.

Our teen mental health treatment program provides multiple levels of care, including residential treatment, intensive outpa-tient treatment, and partial hospitalization or day treatment for teens and adolescents dealing with depression, anxiety disor-ders, bipolar disorder, self-harm behaviors, oppositional defi-ant disorder, attachment disorders, and other similar diagno-ses. Our goal is to strategically address mental health disor-der and the surrounding issues while providing effective inter-

ventions to support long-term recovery. If your teen is suffering from a mental health disorder, our Discovery programs can help. We are experts in helping teens and ad-olescents with mental health disorders. We are experienced in helping our clients identify the emotional issues surrounding their mental health disorder and helping them learn to deal with them. If your teen or adolescent needs help, or if you would like to talk with someone about mental health disorders or Center For Discovery, we are here to help. What are the different types of mental health disorders that we treat? Trauma– Traumatic lifetime experiences like death, illness, loss, abandonment or perception of abandon-

ment, bullying and forms of abuse significantly impact the psyche and physiological state of the indi-vidual.

Depression– Depression can be crippling and can turn an adolescent or teen who is usually a bright, happy person into a recluse who has a hard time getting out of bed or off the couch.

Anxiety– Anxiety can occur by itself or alongside depression. Reactive Attachment Disorder and Adoption– Attachment refers to the physical, psychological and

even biological bond that occurs between a child and their primary caretakers such as the mother and father.

Self-Harm or Self-Injury– Teens may deliberately injure or harm themselves by cutting, scratching, head-banging, hitting, picking at skin, pulling hair, biting, burning, or branding. .

Bipolar Disorder– Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a disorder that causes unusual mood shifts, energy shifts, changes in activity level and the ability to carry out daily tasks.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland Dr. Joel H. Goffman graduated Summa Cum Laude and received his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland in 1967. Af-ter he completed his internship at the University of Miami, Dr. Goffman served in the U. S. Coast Guard in Vietnam. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine after he returned from Vietnam.

Dr. Goffman enjoys photography, playing tennis, and gardening in his off-hours. He and his family enjoy the theater, art exhibits, reading and traveling.

A successful inventor (awarded two patents), Dr. Goffman has designed several of the devices that are used during Laser Vision Correction all over the world. For more information: go to www.eyeshieldtechnology.com.

Dr. Goffman began his Laser Vision education after traveling to Canada in 1992 where the Excimer Laser was used before its approval in the United States, and participated in a 2-year (1994-1996) FDA study of the Excimer Laser for PRK and LASIK. Since its approval in 1995, he has successfully treated hundreds of pa-tients with a wide range of refractive errors with both LASIK and PRK.

The most common complaint that patients express today is “the doctor was not the person doing the exami-nation and no one listened to their problems”. In our office, Dr. Goffman performs all aspects of the examina-tion, and takes all the measurements necessary to perform LASIK or PRK. He learned a long time ago that if you want something done right, you do it yourself. Dr. Goffman’s office does not rely on associate Optome-trists or technicians to determine the ocular health of his patients. Dr. Goffman sees his patients from start to finish.

Laser Vision Correction: With many years of experience Dr. Goffman provides his patients with the latest technology available in Laser Vision Correction: the VISX Star S4 ActiveTrak Excimer Laser System for per-forming LASIK and PRK. Both LASIK and PRK reshape the cornea to eliminate the need for contact lenses or glasses. Dr. Goffman has performed hundreds of LASIK and PRK procedures on his patients for a wide range of refractive errors, including myopia (nearsightedness), astigmatism, and hyperopia (farsightedness).

The VISX laser is the most widely used Excimer laser for Laser Vision Correction in the world. It was the first laser approved by the FDA to treat high degrees of myopia and hyperopia with or without astigmatism.

For more information about LASIK or PRK call Lizbeth Villareal at 713-467-0990 or (713) 461-8056 or you may email Lizbeth Villareal at [email protected].

Cataract Surgery: Dr. Goffman performs “No-Stitch” Cataract Surgery. Patients can now enjoy the ease of outpatient surgery, and return home within a few hours. A multifocal implant that has been approved for many years. For more information about cataract surgery call Denise Irons at 713-467-0990 or (713) 461-8056 or you may email Denise Irons at [email protected].

Glasses and Contact Lenses: Adjacent to the office is South West Optical managed by Yolanda Cachola and Lisa Harmon. Together they have over thirty years experience in all facets of the optical business. Most single vision glasses can be made in 1-2 hours. Most patients interested in wearing contact lenses can be fitted by Dr. Goffman the same day as their appointment. After the fitting the patients will then be instructed in the care and handling of their new contact lenses by our Contact Lens Specialist. Additional replacement lenses are available from this office or a prescription can be obtained. For more information about contact lenses call us during business hours at 713-467-0990 or (713) 461-8056.

Despite all the medical advances of the last 50 years, somehow the timeless value of dedicated primary care and a trusted doctor-patient experience has all but gone by the wayside. Modern healthcare is inconvenient, ex-pensive, and feels more engaged with the insurance company’s bottom line than the patient’s well being. Medi-cine is a relationship – Not a transaction or billing code. First Primary Care is changing health care by putting the focus back where it belongs: On you. First Primary Care is a members only practice dedicated to providing personalized, cost-effective, modern, everyday care to every member of the family. We help our members re-claim control of their personal healthcare from the big insurance companies by giving them unrestricted access their personal physician, directly – any time of the day or night, whenever they need, for one low monthly mem-bership fee. First Primary Care delivers healthcare “the way it used to be” back when people had an ongoing relationship with their doctor. We’re bringing back the quality of care that comes when a doctor knows every one of their patients, as a person – not just a chart or a billing code. By cutting the big insurance middleman out of the doctor-patient relationship, our members get access to the right care, be it cutting edge procedures, or rou-tine wellness, at a price they can afford. In fact, most people spend an average of 46% less out of pocket after

Why GeriMedical?

Orthopedic products are what we do and ALL we have done for the past 18 years and our expert clinical and billing staff is amazing: proficient, knowledgeable and compassionate.

We accept Medicare and most commercial insurances and we confirm eligibility up front. This way choices can be made taking into considering insurance benefits and there no surprise bills because of outstanding deductibles, the insurance does not cover products, or a required authorization was not in place. Products are selected to meet individual needs taking into account physical limitations, co-existing medical conditions, desired clinical outcomes and of course lifestyle and personal preferences. Above all, the ideal product is provided because GeriMedical is manufacturer-neutral, stocking products from leading domestic and many international manufacturers (Townsend, Donjoy, Breg, Ossur, Thuasne,Top Shelf, Lifestyle Bracing, Aspen, Hely Weber, Bird & Cronin, Cybertech, Ovation, Corflex, MedSpec, Trulife, Comfy, DeRoyal, OCSI, RCAI, Independence Brace).

Treating others as we hope to be treated in our time of need, the GeriMedical Team is 100% committed to ensuring a high level of service tailored to individual needs. We personally look forward to helping you with your orthotic needs.

Injury & Post-Surgical Support/Stabilization: When you’re suffering from an injury and need post-surgical support or stabilization, you should consider bracing. When used in conjunction with other treat-ments, bracing can be extremely helpful in the overall recovery process. GeriMedical wants to make sure that all patients get the care they need, which is why we carry a number of bracing options to help with your injury and post-surgical support. What’s more, we can help provide and bill your insurance for the brace. Depending on your specific injury or post-surgical needs, we offer a variety of braces.

Types of Braces: We offer several knee braces and each type serves a different purpose. Some knee braces are meant to immobilize, some are designed for support, and others provide compression. Bracing can be a great form of treatment for a torn ACL. If you have suffered an ankle injury or had surgery, there are braces available for that as well. In addition to knee braces, we also carry back braces. There are many types of back injuries that might require various types of back braces. One of the most common causes of back pain is straining or spraining the muscles or connective tissues in the lower back. There are some braces that offer support to prevent these injuries through the promotion of using proper form when lifting. Other types of back braces are designed to help with posture issues, back problems due to pregnancy, and any other back issues caused by carrying excess weight. GeriMedical also carries braces that are meant for post-operative use. These braces are built to immobilize or restrict movement after a major surgery. There are also braces available for the different parts of the arm including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and so on. Some of the reasons to use a brace for the upper extremities include shoulder dislocation, carpal tunnel, wrist fractures, and more. Please keep in mind that all braces are not created equal, meaning that they are not all designed for the same purposes. It is imperative that you work with a healthcare professional to de-termine what type of brace is best for your needs. GeriMedical in Houston, TX is here to assist with all your bracing needs.

The essence of the PDS business model is simple: enabling clini-cians to focus more on the patient; and worry less about the busi-ness. Starting a company from scratch isn’t as difficult as it sounds. It’s actually a lot harder. Before Pacific Dental Services

® officially start-

ed in 1994, so much work and effort went into learning how dental practices operate – from payroll and taxes, to implementing new

technology and dealing with insurance companies. So really, the story starts before PDS even opened as a company.

• PDS started in 1994, supporting its first office in Costa Mesa, CA.

• By 1997, PDS grew to more than 20 supported offices.

• Today, PDS has over 700 supported offices in 20 states.

• PDS plans to add more than 80 supported offices each year. PDS has been on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing private companies in America for the past 10 years in a row. We plan to continue our rapid growth, adding about 80 supported offices every year. Our vision to become The Greatest Dental Company in America is quickly becoming a reality.
