What is a hero?
A hero is…• A person who makes a positive change that
helps make earth a better place.
What is not a hero?A hero is not…
• Just an athlete • A popular movie star• A famous singer or rockstar
Where did you get the information?
You must tell people where you got your facts from.
Someone might think that you made-up the information.
They might also become very interested and want to know more about your hero. You will make this very easy for them.
Notes• Taking notes- pause and jot down the
important or interesting info while you’re reading
• Answer questions- these ?s will guide you through your investigation of your hero’s life and accomplishments
• Fill out graphic organizer- so now you have an easy place that lists all the required information

• January 15, 1929 – born in Atlanta, Georgia• 1944 – Graduated high school at 15 • 1948 – Graduated from Morehouse College• 1953 – Married Coretta Scott • 1959 – Visited India to study Gandhi’s philosophy on nonviolence • 1963 – Delivers his famous ‘I have a dream’ speech• 1964 – Wins Nobel Peace Prize• 1965 – King is arrested during a voting rights demonstration • April 4, 1968 – Dr. King is assassinated • November 2, 1986–Martin Luther King Day proclaimed a national holiday
• When you present you need to bring three props to go along with your presentation. Please do not spend any money on these props. You may use things around your house that remind you of your hero.

So your hero should be someone who inspires you. You will be playing the role of that person.
