What are my responsibilities while self-excluded?While enrolled in the Self-Exclusion program, you may not enter any gaming sites in Ontario including restaurants and entertainment venues within the site.

If you are on the property for any purpose, you are considered to be in breach of your Self-Exclusion. Registration in the program and your commitment to stay off the casino property is serious.

What happens if I enter a casino property?Should you be detected entering the gaming facility during your period of Self-Exclusion you will be escorted from the premises and may be charged with trespassing. You may also be fined and will have time added to the term of your Self-Exclusion. These consequences are intended to deter you from attempting to return to the gaming site.

Although OLG manages the Self-Exclusion program, offers information on how to get help and where to get referrals to professional counsellors, only you can decide to participate fully and to honour your pledge to stay out of the casino or slot facility.

What happens at the end of Self-Exclusion?For many people, Self-Exclusion is helpful for an indefinite period of time. Once registered in the program, they choose not to return to the gaming facility, even after their Self-Exclusion terms have passed.

Unless you apply to re-enter, you will remain registered in the Self-Exclusion program. If you do not wish to re-enter the gaming facility, you do not need to contact OLG when your term of self-exclusion ends.

Because people Self-Exclude for different reasons, some choose to apply to come back to the gaming facilities after their period of Self-Exclusion is completed. Obtaining permission to return to the casino after a period of Self-Exclusion is called “reinstatement.”

If you decide that returning to the gaming facility is appropriate for you, you must contact OLG and apply to reinstate.

I still have questions. How can I find out more?At any point during your Self-Exclusion, you may contact OLG for more information; however, you may not enter a gaming site to do so. Please contact OLG by telephone at 1-800-387-0098.

Congratulations!

By registering for the Self-Exclusion program, you are making an important commitment to yourself. For many people in the program, Self-Exclusion has been an important first step toward taking control of their lives.

Information and support are available to help you better understand your commitment. Keep this document close by, along with a copy of your Self-Exclusion form.

“I’ve regained my self esteem. I’ve been able to overcome the problem and feeling good about myself again. I’m not ashamed of who I was, I’m proud of who I’ve become.”Terry Finn, enrolled in Self-Exclusion program

How does OLG support my decision?OLG will keep your name on a database of self-excluded people, stop direct marketing material to you, and suspend your player card. These steps are intended to support your choice to stop gambling.

At the time you enter the program, OLG will record your facial image to help identify you as a self-excluded person. This image will be recorded into a facial recognition database. If youattempt to re-enter a gaming facility in Ontario, your image may be captured by cameras and youmay be automatically detected by security.
