Local Council has reminded us that NO PARKING is available on the reserve or alongside the

kerb in Victoria or Robinson Streets (circled above).

Cautions have been given to vehicles parked there earlier this week, but from today fines

will be issued to any cars parking on the reserve or by the kerb in Victoria or Robinson

Streets.

REMINDER: Both roads are two way streets, so parking is NOT PERMITTED AT

ANY TIME around the reserve (circled above).

Many commuters are choosing to drive to Sunshine Station and therefore park in our sur-

rounding streets. Please be aware that there has been an increase in car traffic in Sunshine,

so you may need to allow extra time at drop off and pick up times, as well as anticipating

that you may not be able to find a car park close to School.

School Uniform I am asking you to help the school to maintain a high standard in regards to the school uniform. It is im-portant that the children wear the correct school uniform at all times and lately I have noticed that we are getting many different variations to the school uniform. Blue Cargo shorts/pants are NOT a part of our Uni-form. Our uniform is a part of our school identity and helps us to create a sense of belonging to the Our Lady’s School community which we are all very proud to be a part of. We need to demonstrate pride in our school in many ways and wearing the correct school uniform is an important part of this. Therefore, all children need to adhere to the official uniform standards. As part of the official school uniform we require students to wear the correct school shoes every day except for the day they are participating in the sports program which is the only day they can wear their runners. Black leather runners ARE NOT school shoes and can only be worn on Sports Day. Please help us to make our school the very best it can be.

Message from Fr Peter…..

EASTER - OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP AT MASSES AND SERVICES

Dear Students and Parents,

During the Holidays we will celebrate Easter. We hope you will join us in the church for some of the Holy Week Ceremonies.

We would like to invite any students who are Baptised Catholics from the Middle and Senior levels (Gr 3, 4, 5or 6) who are interested to be involved in the religious ceremonies and celebrations.

The dates are:

Holy Thursday 13th April 6.30pm;

Good Friday 14th April 2.45pm;

Holy Saturday 15th April 5.45pm

Easter Sunday 16th April 9.00am or 10.30am

With the exception of Sunday Masses, each ceremony will be approximately 90 minutes or longer. No de-tailed training needed in advance because each ceremony during the Easter Holy Week is rather unique, so basic instructions will be given just before and during. Parents are both needed, and must be available, to assist children dress up in the Altar Servers robes 15 minutes before the ceremony.

PLEASE email the parish [email protected] or ring the school office before the end of term.

Thankyou.

Father Peter & Father Vinh

WONDERFUL FEEDBACK FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ‘INCURSIONS ARE US’

Thanks again for the wonderful experience your teachers and students gave

both Anjali and I on Monday. Your students showed only Expected Behav-

iour at all times, were curious, respectful and wonderful to work with. I was

particularly blown away by the Year Sixes and have thought about them

since. What mature and wonderful young adults. I say young adults as they

were absolutely charming, mature and so interested in LEARNING. We could

feel that a super positive culture exists in your school which we enjoyed so

much. Christine Sully

ART NEWS

The Art Committee ran a colouring in competition yesterday (Wednesday) The art room was packed with students! The art committee were so well organised and they raised about $20 for the art room for new art supplies!

Last Friday, we had The National Day of Action against Violence and Bully-ing. Many children in 5C worked in groups to write their own motto and ‘put themselves in the picture’. A couple have been included in this week’s newsletter. Community Wellbeing Week has been a great success for the students and teach-ers. Monday’s sessions involved all classes participating in a Drama session focus-ing on building resilience facilitated by Incursion R Us. The main focus of the ses-sions was going through ‘Social Smarts’ expected and unexpected behaviour. They also went through a ‘Five Finger Rule’ which strongly connects to our whole school approach and what is taught in the Social and Emotional Learning sessions across the school. The Five Finger Rule assists children to remember strategies they can do when an issue with others may arise. Incursions R Us provided two posters which are also included in this week’s news-letter which may enable you to use some of the same language with your child at home. Today and tomorrow the students are participating in Yoga sessions with the aim of further introducing stu-dents to a way to look after ourselves. Regards Christine Carabott Deputy Principal & Student Wellbeing Leader
