I. The impressiveness of God (His enormity) – Isaiah 40.

2. But in v. 11 we see him as a shepherd, picking up the lambs and as he “tenderly cares for the weak and wounded.”

C. The size of the universe compared to God – v. 12.

1. We are like grasshoppers.2. This is readily understood when man is compared with the universe.

II. The awesomeness of God (His holiness) – Isaiah 6:1-7.

A. God is so lofty and exalted that his honor and glory fill the temple – v. 1.

B. Humble angels are around God – v. 2.

C. God’s holiness is so awesome that the angels can only speak about His holiness – v. 3.

D. Symbols of God’s wrath and judgment – v. 4.

Word.- Sovereignty does not remove our need for obedience.

2. “Willing obedience reveals a heart that is embracing sovereignty.”

3. “The higher the view we have of His sovereignty—that our times are in His hands—the greater will be the possibility to live in His victory.”

4. Our personal goal should be summed up in this statement: “I want to love God so much that I trust His every decision no matter how hard that may be.”
