DID YOU KNOW?Organ and tissue donation affords men and women a unique opportunity to help others.Although the laws vary depending on where a person lives, many persons age 18 orolder can indicate their desire to be organ donors. Younger people must have a parentor guardian’s consent. Physical condition will dictate if a person can donate, althoughpeople with a previous medical condition may still be suitable donors. According to theUnited States Department of Health and Human Services, each organ and tissue donorhas the potential to save or improve the lives of as many as 50 people. Organs and tis-sues eligible for donation include the heart, pancreas, lungs, liver, kidneys, intestines, cornea, skin, connective tissues, and bone marrow, among others. In the United States, donors can register with a state donor registry or designate their decisions on theirdriver’s licenses. Canadians can visit beadonor.ca to register to become organ donors.

SAFE CARS FOR TEENS(NAPSI)—Many teens aren’t driving the safest cars, according to the Insurance Institutefor Highway Safety (IIHS). Here are some dos and don’ts to help put your teen in thesafest ride possible:

Do look for a car with good safety ratings from trusted sources such as IIHS and theNHTSA.

Don’t get a car with high horsepower.

Do get a car that your teen feels comfortable driving and has few blind spots/obstruc-tions.

Don’t get a car that’s so old it lacks the most up-to-date safety features.

Do seek cars with electronic safety control capabilities.

Don’t buy a car with salvage, total loss, or rebuilt titles. If you do,

Do everything to make sure the car was properly repaired back to manufacturer specs.

Don’t skip the test drive or mechanic’s inspection.

Do get a Carfax Vehicle History Report to find out about potential problems. Shop at theall-new Carfax.com and get a free Carfax Vehicle History Report with every car for sale.
