On Monday, an eighteen year old woman from Elizabeth was bitten more than twenty

times by her own Pit-bull. The woman was first attacked in her bedroom when the dog

apparently went crazy and started to bite and attack her. She managed to make her way

outside, where one of her neighbors saw what was happening and called the police. A

nearby off-duty detective, Raul Delaprida, was the first to respond on scene. The pit-bull

immediately turned on Raul and attacked him. The off-duty detective fired two shots at

the dog, killing him with one of them. Sergeant Stephen Negrey, a Spokesman for the

Elizabeth Police Department said, The dog was a recue who was once abused. The

victim was rushed to Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey for treatment after

Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth-leading cancer killer in the United States. It is a deadly

and fast-spreading cancer that is expected to cause thirty-seven thousand deaths this year

alone. According to the American Cancer Society Pancreatic cancer carries a five year

survival rate of only five percent. But, at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New

Brunswick, researchers may have found a way to stabilize the cancer in by injecting a

virus-vaccine directly into the tumor. Two years after use of the experimental vaccine,

four out of six patients are currently still alive and stable. Edmund Lattime, the Cancer

Institute of New Jerseys deputy director and the senior researcher of the study said, The

immune system, which is normally pinned down and paralyzed by the pancreatic tumor,

is effectively freed from the stranglehold and strengthened to fight the tumor. This work

has earned them a highly-rated distinction for work in progress at the American

Association for Cancer Researchs annual Chicago meeting this week.

Nissan snagged a one billion dollar contract and exclusive rights to be supplier of all New

Yorks cabs over the next decade. Last year, Nissan beat out Ford, Karsan, and other

companies, to be picked by New Yorks Taxi and Limousine Commision as the best

design. Their minivan shaped taxi, known as the NV200, wont be seen on the streets

until late next year though. The new taxi boasts a minivan like design, but still gets

twenty-five miles per gallon, has a transparent roof, USB chargers for passengers, odor

and germ neutralizing seats, extra trunk space, and even a low annoyance honk to please

pedestrians. New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg, said, The Nissan NV200 unveiled

Tiger Woods has recently rebounded back into the top fifty of the world golf rankings,

landing at number seven. That may have helped him regain some of his fans, because

thousands of fans crowded the Augusta National Golf Clubs front nine holes to watch

Tiger Woods play a practice round. He seems back in form, and ready to compete for

what would be his fifth Masters title, if he could win it. Will Brown, an Augusta resident

following after Woods said, I think hes going to bring a lot of people back to the game,

people, including two top sports officials. A young Somali woman aged around twenty to

twenty-five years old blew herself up as she set off a bomb that was intended to kill

Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali at the Theatre. Instead it only injured him along

with numerous other people. The suicide bomber apparently had a Police I.D., which is

Beachgoers in Australia are being extremely cautious after four fatal shark attacks in only

seven months. More people were killed by sharks along Western Australias southern

coast than anywhere else in the world in 2011, making it the most dangerous place in the

world for shark attacks. Thirty-three year old father Peter Kurmann is the most recent

victim, being attacked on Saturday morning while diving with his brother Giann. After

the attack, authorities closed beaches as they conducted an aerial scan of the seas. A

plane sighted a three or four meter shark, but attempts to capture it failed and were soon

aborted after bad weather set in. Jack Carlsen plans to launch a shark-watch website in

the next couple months, which should give people an easy way to report sightings.

The details of Whitney Houstons death have been released. The final coroners report

showed she had traces of cocaine in her system, along with marijuana, Xanax, and a

chemical which is produced when cocaine combines with alcohol. In the bathroom,

investigators found a white crystal-like substance; they also found a powdery white

substance which proved to be cocaine. A portable mirror was also found with traces of

cocaine on it. There was an open bottle of champagne and a dozen prescription pill

bottles in the bedroom, including three empty bottles of Xanax and antibiotics. The

coroner determined the primary cause of death was drowning, but was due to the effects

of heart disease and cocaine use.

An 18-year-old Elizabeth woman was bitten more than 20 times today by her dog, which thenturned on a police officer who shot and killed it, authorities said.

The incident occurred this morning on tree-lined Fernwood Terrace, according to Sgt. StephenNegrey, an Elizabeth Police Department spokesman. The woman was first attacked by the dog, apit bull rescue, inside her home.

"She was in her bedroom when the dog went crazy and started attacking her," Negrey said.

She fought her way outside, where someone called police. Raul Delaprida, a detective who wasworking an off-duty job nearby, responded and found the dog attacking her on the front yard,Negrey said. When the animal turned on him, the detective fired two shots, striking the dog once, the spokesman said. The dog later died.

The dog was a rescue who was once abused, Negrey said.

The victim told police she had no feeling in her right arm and couldnt move one of her fingers.

She was taken to Overlook Medical Center in Summit for treatment.

Like many parts of the body, the pancreasa six-inch gland in the abdomen which helpsproduce enzymes for digestionis an overlooked niche player when its working correctly.

Overlooked until something goes catastrophically wrong. Pancreatic cancer is a particularlydeadly and quick-moving cancer that is the fourth-leading cancer killer in the United States, with44,000 new cases expected this yearand 37,400 deaths, according to the American CancerSociety.

But at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick, researchers have stabilized thechaotic disease through direct injection of a virus-vaccine into the tumorwork which hasearned them a highly-rated distinction for work in progress at the American Association forCancer Researchs annual meeting in Chicago this week.

Four of six patients are currently still alive and clinically stable for as much as two years after theexperimental use of the vaccine, made with the equivalent of the eradicated smallpox virus.

The immune system, which is normally pinned down and paralyzed by the pancreatic tumor, iseffectively freed from the stranglehold and strengthened to fight the tumor, said EdmundLattime, the Cancer Institute of New Jerseys deputy director and the studys senior researcher.

    14/25

Considering pancreatic cancer only carries a five-year, five percent survival rate, these findingsare very encouraging and will hopefully lead to more effective ways of managing and treatingthis disease, said Lattime.

Two patients were taken off the vaccine trials two weeks after starting the regimen, and died one

and six months after they stopped the trial.

But the four survivors are still clinically stable, against most expectations. Pancreatic cancercarries a five-year survival rate of just 5 percent, according to the American Cancer Society.

Were just tickled that these people are doing well, said Elizabeth Poplin, a professor of

medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New JerseyRobert Wood JohnsonMedical School.

Cancer vaccines are thought to be a promising new area of development and researchboth forpreventing certain forms of the disease, and treating existing tumors. Several preventive vaccines

are already in common usage: including Gardasil and Cervarix, cervical cancer vaccines foryoung women, and a Hepatitis B vaccine to prevent eventual liver cancer has been given to mostnewborns in the United states since it was approved by the FDA in 1981.

The first cancer vaccine for directly treating existing cancer was Provenge, which fightsmetastatic prostate cancer in men, according to the National Cancer Institute. It was approved bythe Food and Drug Administration in April 2010. Yervoy, the trade name of a second cancervaccine, is being used to treat melanoma, and is currently being tested on about 700 patients in anationwide clinical trial.

    The Taxi of Tomorrow, today.

Make that last night. Nissan yesterday debuted its winning design for the next generation of NewYorks iconic yellow cabs at a glitzy event in the citys Soho district.

Known as the NV200, the $29,700 minivan-shaped taxi wont hit Gothams streets until late nextyear, but the Japanese automaker is giving New Yorkers and tourists a sneak peak of the newfleet this week. The cab will be on display at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, which opens Friday and runs through April 15 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.

New Yorks Taxi and Limousine Commission last year picked Nissans design over entries fromFord, maker of the Crown Victorias long-associated with New York cabbies, and the Turkishautomaker Karsan. The win came with a $1 billion contract for Nissan to be exclusive supplier ofNew Yorks 13,000 cabs over the next decade.

"The Nissan NV200 unveiled today will be the safest, most comfortable and most convenienttaxi the City has ever had," said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. "New York City cabs have alwaysbeen iconic, and now they will set a new standard. The 600,000 passengers who use taxis to get

around every day deserve the cutting-edge technology and top-of-the-line safety features that thismodel delivers."

NissanTransparent roof panels offer views of the city, while a low-annoyance horn sparespedestrians and comes with exterior lights that turn on when the driver honks.

Among other things, the cab boasts a number of upgrades for passengers and drivers alike, including "ample room" for four passengers and their luggage; sliding doors with a runningboard that makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle; electrical outlets and USB ports sopassengers can charge devices; GPS for both the driver and passengers; and an adjustabledrivers seat featuring both recline and lumbar adjustments. The cabs 4-cylinder powertrain alsoreportedly gets 25 miles to the gallon.

But whether the modern features and surburban looks of New Yorks new cabs mean hacks

themselves lose their iconic edge and breakneck driving skills remains to be seen.

-- From grandma to grandson, from fan to foe, the throngs at Augusta are happy Tiger Woods isback in form and ready to contend for a fifth Masters title.

Like Arnold Palmer had his army, Tiger certainly has his troop.

Thousands of patrons lined the fairways on Augusta National Golf Club's front nine Tuesdaymorning as Woods played a practice round. They crammed themselves as many as 10 deeparound the greens and moved from tee to green like waves going up each side of the fairways.

"I think he's going to bring a lot of people back to the game," said Will Brown, an Augustaresident who was following Woods with his wife and two sons. "He's good for golf."

As he spoke, his son Zeke, 6, tugged at his father's pant leg, begging to go to the practice tee towait in line for Woods' autograph.

"He's very special," Zeke squeaked about his favorite golf star.

Woods scored his first official PGA Tour victory in two and a half years two weeks ago, winningthe Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Florida by five strokes. It was also his first victory

since disclosure of his marital infidelities, which led to divorce.

In the months between those wins, his game nosedived and he plummeted from the top spot inthe world golf rankings, even falling out of the top 50. He's rebounded to No. 7 and reboundedwith the fans, too.

Leo Brown, a 60-year-old from Greenville, South Carolina, was pleased to see Woods back inthe winner's column.

  • 8/2/2019 WKNJ Newscast 4-4

    16/25

"He showed all the doubters that he still had a game," Brown said.

Some never were doubters, including Qabaniso Lupafya, a native of Zimbabwe who moved toMassachusetts 26 years ago and now lives in Worcester.

Tiger Woods smiles during Tuesday's practice round.

"I love Tiger. I'm obsessed with him," said Lupafya, who also goes by Frank for those who can'tpronounce his name. He said his goal is to play with Woods one day.

Lupafya, a former rugby player, said watching Woods -- and a nasty knee injury -- inspired himto take up golf four years ago. He's down to a six handicap, he said, and has won localtournaments, but he'll just be watching Woods from the other side of the ropes at Augusta.

"I got a date with Tiger. I'll see ya!" he said Tuesday morning, scampering down the ninth

fairway in search of his idol.

Gary Hanson of Palm Beach, Florida, also had a date with Tiger on Tuesday morning, but don'tcount him among Woods' fans.

That's because Woods doesn't respect the fans, he said, adding the golf star had done little toacknowledge their cheers in Tuesday morning's practice round.

"Without the fans, where are you?" Hanson asked. So why was he making the trek aroundAugusta's back nine for a meaningless round on a gray Tuesday morning?

"The wife loves him," he said. He looked over to the ropes where his wife, Gail, followed Woodsas he walked up to the sixth green. "She's in love with him!"

For himself, Hanson said, he'd rather be following Phil Mickelson.

"And you know why? Because he interacts with the fans," Hanson said.

Don't tell the kids Woods doesn't interact.

It was only a practice round, but a crowd gathered to watch Woods.

Up by the practice green, they squeezed against the railings of the junior autograph area, hopingto get Woods to sign whatever they had handy.

Alec Cwienkala, a 13-year-old from Allentown, Pennsylvania, scored Woods's signature on hisflag.

  • 8/2/2019 WKNJ Newscast 4-4

    17/25

"It was really cool being up close to him," said Alec, who waited 90 minutes in the autographarea.

Woods and the other Masters participants have been examples for his own game, Alec said.

"I try to make my swing like all those pros," the young golfer said.

And maybe watching Woods is something that will inspire new generations of players to take thegame to new levels.

Vicki Martin of St. Cloud, Minnesota, said she thinks there's something to that argument.

"Tiger makes these young kids what they are today," said Martin, noting that Woods athleticismand conditioning regimen has set the standard for others and elevated the game as a whole.

Martin said Woods has inspired her 13-year-old grandson.

"He's obsessed with Tiger," she said. "He says, 'I want to play in the Masters.'"

Woods has elevated more than just the sport, said Jim Banks, a retired Army colonel from FortHood, Texas.

He showed all the doubters that he still had a gameLeo Brown, Tiger Woods fan

That's because if Woods is bringing people out to PGA Tour events, the charities that golfsupports are able to do more for those they serve.

"Think about the revenue created for the charities," Banks said. "It's he, and he alone, who doesthat."

Out along Washington Road, the main route from Interstate 20 to the course, Woods' resurgenceis having another kind of economic effect. Those who came to Augusta without tickets arepaying more to buy passes from the roadside brokers.

Tye Bedwell of Chattanooga, Tennessee, his brother and a friend lucked into two passes at facevalue from a passing motorist, Bedwell said. But they still needed a third and hadn't foundanything under $350 at noon Tuesday.

"We're not going to pay $350," he said.

"The ticket price has spiked up," said Randall Matod, who said he's been trading tickets onWashington Avenue for the past 30 years. He had sold passes for Tuesday's practice round for$250, he said, but was looking for new inventory at lunchtime. For Sunday's final round, they'llbe around $500 -- and they'd be higher, he said, but the fact that Sunday is Easter is keeping theprice dampened a bit.

  • 8/2/2019 WKNJ Newscast 4-4

    18/25

Of course, that Easter Sunday deduction may well be eliminated if Woods is atop the leaderboardon Saturday night.

"I couldn't say I'm pulling for him to win. It just makes golf more interesting," said Jordan Myersof Columbia, South Carolina, who was watching for Woods with his brother and father.

"Golf is way better with Tiger," said Alec's father, Steve Cwienkala. "Whether you love him orhate him, the sport needs him."

Twelve people suffered minor injuries aboard a United Airlines flight when it encounteredturbulence while flying over Louisiana on Wednesday, officials said.

"All 12 patients will be transported to area hospitals as a precautionary measure," according toHouston Fire Department spokesman Erica Duckworth, who said there were no serious injuries.

United Flight 1727 was flying from Tampa, Florida, to Houston with 151 people on board whenthe incident occurred, which prompted medical crews to meet the airplane when it landed at 7:30a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. ET).

Images broadcast by CNN affiliate, KTRK showed people being carted on stretchers, some inneck braces, away from the aircraft and toward waiting ambulances.

The National Transportation Safety Board says it is monitoring the situation and has not yetdecided whether to investigate.

In years past, the board has made recommendations over pilot-induced turbulence, or aircraftoscillations caused by pilot decisions.

It's not clear if that occurred during Wednesday's incident.

A young Somali woman set off a bomb blast that rocked Somalia's newly reopened nationaltheater in the capital city Wednesday, killing two top sports officials, a Somali U.N. official said.

Six people died in the explosion and several -- including Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali-- were injured, Omar Jamal told reporters in New York.

Said Mohamed Mugambe, head of the Somali football federation, and Somali Olympiccommittee chief Adan Hagi Yabarow Wish were two of those killed in the attack.

The bomb went off during a celebration for the first anniversary of Somali national television inMogadishu, according to witnesses. Screaming people fled the theater, and the sound ofambulance sirens filled the air.

    19/25

Jamal said the bomb, which exploded when Ali was on the stage, was intended to kill the primeminister and other high-ranking officials.

Ali suffered minor injuries but remains determined to bring security to the country, he said.

"Again the prime minister this morning confirmed his commitment, so did the president, thatthey will continue making sure that the country will be stabilized," Jamal said.

He said the young woman, who was very skinny and appeared to be aged 20 to 25, had beenacting suspiciously before the event but was carrying a police ID, which was "part of the reasonshe was able to get in."

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) earlier said the device had been detonated bya female suicide bomber who blended in with the crowd gathered for the occasion.

The attack on a high-profile event in the heart of the capital is seen as a big symbolic blow to

Somalia's attempts to reinvent itself on the international stage after years as a failed state.

Sepp Blatter, president of football's governing body FIFA, said he was shocked by the news ofthe two sports officials' deaths.

"I knew both men personally and can only say good things about their endless efforts to promotesport and football in their country. They will be sorely missed," he said.

FIFA's vice president, Prince Ali, also extended his condolences to the victims' families. "Wehave faith that the football family is resilient and will continue promoting the values of peace andcoexistence through our beautiful game," the Jordanian prince said.

The Islamist group Al-Shabaab, which has been waging war against Somalia's weak transitionalgovernment, claimed responsibility for the bombing via Twitter.

A post to the group's Twitter page said the explosives had been planted before the gathering anddenied that a woman had carried out the attack.

Brig. Gen. Audace Nduwumunsi, deputy force commander of AMISOM, condemned thebombing.

"We are united with the Somali government and stand firm together. This was a despicable crime

against the Somali people, but it will not stop us achieving peace in Somalia," he said.

"Yet again the terrorists' methods show that they are enemies of peace and are foreign to Somaliculture. By their attack, they are trying to derail the hopes and dreams of the Somali people, butthey will fail."

He urged anyone in Mogadishu with information about planned attacks to come forward.

The Islamist group announced in February that it was tightening its ties to al Qaeda and has longbeen considered a terrorist movement by the United States.

It has waged an insurgency against the feeble Transitional Federal Government since 2007 buthas suffered recent setbacks in its heartland in southern Somalia.

AMISOM and government forces drove Al-Shabaab fighters from the center of Mogadishu lastyear, while Kenyan troops crossed into southern Somalia in October to hit back for a rash ofkidnappings it blamed on the group.

But despite their efforts, Al-Shabaab has continued to launch terror attacks in the capital.

Last month, it claimed responsibility for an attack in which a suicide bomber detonated hisexplosive at a tea shop near Somalia's presidential palace, killing two people.

A report released by the UK-based Royal United Services Institute think tank Wednesday

highlights how al Qaeda is seeking to reinvigorate and expand its operations by strengtheningties with established Islamist groups such as Al-Shabaab.

Al-Shabaab is also increasingly working to recruit members from outside Somalia, the reportsays, presenting a new challenge for Western nations.

"The group has sought to expand its recruitment network by tapping into the pool of foreignjihadists and radicalised individuals in the Middle East, Europe and the US," author ValentinaSoria writes.

However, this may be a sign of waning domestic support in the face of military operations and

food shortages, she says, and there is no evidence so far that it will lead to attacks by Al-Shabaabon targets overseas.

World leaders met in London in February to address terror and conflict in the Horn of Africanation and seek ways to resolve other critical problems, including famine and weak leadership.

After four fatal shark attacks in seven months, beachgoers on the south coast of WesternAustralia are understandably anxious about entering the water.

"Dawn and dusk are perceived to be the worst times for encounters so you see less people goingout early morning and late evening," said long-time surfer Jack Carlsen, who is also a professorat the Sustainable Tourism Center at Curtin University.

"I still go out surfing, but I'm a lot more cautious," said Carlsen, who had his own encounter witha Great White in the same waters several years ago. "A lot of the shark experts say it's the oneyou don't see that will get you. And luckily, I saw it," he said.

The stretch of water along Western Australia's southern coast is now one of the world's mostdeadly for shark attacks. More people were killed by sharks there than anywhere else in theworld in 2011, according to the International Shark Attack File.

The latest victim was 33-year-old Peter Kurmann, a father of two, who was taken on Saturday

morning while diving with his brother Gian about one nautical mile off Stratham Beach.

Gian Kurmann is reported to have used his diving knife to try to fight off the shark, which hetold police was about four meters long.

Experts later confirmed Kurmannwas likely taken by a Great White, the fourth victim of anunprecedented string of attacks by the predators in West Australian waters.

"There is no scientific evidence to suggest that the shark related fatalities in WA are a reflectionof an increase population size of white sharks. It is more likely that a combination of factors, including more people in the water and white sharks being present around the south west coast

this time of year," said Ryan Kempster, a shark biologist and founder ofSupport Our Sharks.

After Saturday's attack, beaches were closed while authorities dispatched aerial and ocean patrolsto scan the seas. A spotter plane sighted a three to four meter shark the same afternoon, butattempts to catch it failed and were aborted altogether when bad weather moved in.

It's become a familiar and unwelcome drill for local authorities who are trying to prevent anyfurther attacks and reassure worried beachgoers that efforts are being made to protect them.

After three people were mauled in the water in September and October, WA Fisheries MinisterNorman Moore announced a $14 million five-year plan to reduce the risks of shark attacks.

It included $2 million for the Shark Response Unit which will on Saturday start an intensivethree to four week tagging program to attach acoustic transmitters to Great Whites.

"The longer it's in the better, which is why with this tagging trip (we) will actually be internallyinserting the tag inside the shark," said Michael Burgess, of the Shark Response Unit.

"We catch the shark. Turn it upside down. It'll go into a state of paralysis. That give will us theopportunity to make a small incision on the underside and insert it in its gut cavity and then giveit some sutures and away it goes."

The State Government has ruled out a mass cull of white sharks to reduce numbers, although if ashark had been caught soon after the attack on Saturday it's likely it would have been destroyed.

The elusive nature of Great White sharks makes them difficult to find and catch, especially in thesea off Western Australia where Burgess said they are "very transient" and "very mobile."

The longer it's in the better, which is why with this tagging trip (we) will actually be internallyinserting the tag inside the sharkMichael Burgess, Shark Response Unit

"The success of tagging white sharks anywhere else in the world has always been around seal

colonies and where white sharks do aggregate, like the Neptune Islands in South Australia, suchas over in South Africa, and likewise off the coast of Mexico and California," he said.

Off Western Australia, the tagging team will be using long lines and bait to try to hook thesharks.

"Our target is somewhere around 100, but this is only very early days in this program we'reimplementing. (We want) as many as we can get, obviously," Burgess said.

The difficulty of tagging great whites is evident in the government's admission that no sharkswere successfully tagged in 2011. Eleven were tagged in the previous two years, and are feeding

information to offshore receivers about the sharks' behavior.

"By next month there should be 121 acoustic receivers in the water in the southwest and southcoast and that's in addition to the 39 that we've got off the metropolitan coast of Perth," Burgesssaid.

Only 20 of those transit the information to satellites which is then sent to West Australian WaterPolice to generate an SMS warning. The vast majority store the information, which is laterdownloaded and used to chart the sharks' past movements.

People who see sharks are urged to call the Water Police, but Jack Carlsen said many sightings

by locals who spend a lot of time on the water are not being reported.

''Surfers get complacent. They might tell a few mates but they won't make it widely known thatthey saw a shark off a surf beach," he said. "(And) we know, for example, that commercialfishermen see them all the time, but don't always report sightings."

Carlsen plans to launch a "sharkwatch" website in the next few months, which he says will giveapproved subscribers an easy way to report sightings. Messages would be sent by SMS or onTwitter or Facebook, alerting subscribers to potentially dangerous sharks along the coast.

The idea duplicates in part efforts by the government to issue alerts through the state's Surf Life

Saving body, and Burgess, from the Shark Response Unit, has expressed concern that a separatereporting system could leave authorities out of the loop.

"Already there's issues with people not reporting shark sightings appropriately, so that's a realbig message we need to get out. People need to report shark sightings to the Water Police," hesaid.

As the weather gets colder, authorities are hoping that fewer people in the water will reduce therisk of further attacks.

Shark biologist Ryan Kempster said that while the government was doing a "fantastic" job withits "non-lethal shark mitigation measures," individuals needed to take responsibility for their own

    safety.

"Shark bite incidents are a rare occurrence and almost impossible to predict," he said. "Peopleneed to realize that when they enter the water they are taking a risk -- albeit minimal --ofencountering a large predatory shark."

Nike rolled out its new uniforms for all 32 NFL teams Tuesday at a gala celebration in NewYork.

NFL Network's Michelle Beisner was on hand as stars from around the league modeled the newduds, kept (mostly) under lock and key in the weeks leading up to Tuesday's launch.

For those concerned about drastic changes, fear not. Beisner confirmed the majority of uniformsreceived tweaks to fabric and composition, but Nike managed to have a little fun with theSeahawks. Seattle's uniforms received the most drastic makeover of all, with a revamped helmetlogo and revised color and design schemes for the team's home and away jerseys.

In general, the Nike uniforms boast a tighter fit, with updated -- in some cases more vibrant --color shadings and visible sew lines.

New Orleans Saints running backPierre Thomas, Denver Broncos cornerbackChamp Bailey andSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith spoke with Beisner about the updated V-shapedneckline, which takes advantage of Nike's Flywire fabric. The neck appears looser, but the fabrictechnology allows jerseys to stretch but regain form without easily slipping over a player'sshoulder pads on contact.

Players expressed excitement over the uniform's lightweight design and greater range of motion.Philadelphia Eagles quarterbackMichael Vick, who has a Nike endorsement deal, offered a

    positive review.

"It's awesome. It's a great opportunity for Nike, and it's a great opportunity for the NFL," Vicktold NFL Network. "We'll feel good and we'll play good, and I'm very excited for the Nikebrand."

The gory details ofWhitney Houston's death have been released.

As the L.A. County Department of Coroner previously announced, the singer was found by herpersonal assistant submerged under water in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

But the final coroner's report, obtained Wednesday by E! News, provides a more extensivepicture of Houston's condition when she accidentally drowned on Feb. 11 with traces of cocainein her system.

The report states that Houston was discovered face-down in "extremely hot water," and there wasa scald burn on her back.

Per the report, investigators found in the bathroom a small spoon with a "white crystal likesubstance," as well as a "white powdery substance" on the counter and a portable mirror withtraces of the same powder on it.

There was an open bottle of champagne in the bedroom, as well as a dozen prescription bottles, including three empty bottles of alprazolam (Xanax), the antiinflammatory Prednisone andantibiotics.

Kristy McCracken of the Beverly Hills Police Department wrote in her final report that, uponcompleting her investigation, she had determined that Houston "possibly overdosed on a narcotic

substance, prescription medications, over the counter medications and alcohol."

She noted a "bloody purge" coming out of Houston's nose, as well as minor abrasions on herface, arms and legs. McCracken also spotted a possible old needle puncture wound on Houston'sinner left elbow, she wrote.

While primary cause of death was drowning, it was "due to, or as a consequence of" the effectsof atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use, according to Dr. Christopher Rogers, chief of
