GKN Sinter Metals wins supplier awards in China Wolf Minerals begins UK tungsten plant The mine is located in Devon, UK. Speciality metals develop- ment company Wolf Minerals Limited has authorised GR Engineering Services Limited (GRES) to begin construction of its Hemerdon tungsten and tin project in the south- west of England. GRES was awarded the £75 million fixed term EPC contract for the design, construction and commissioning of the tungsten and tin mineral processing plant plus associated infrastructure in June 2013. The plant will pro- duce three million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) and first produc- tion is scheduled for mid-2015. “We have been focused on achieving the key milestones required to allow construc- tion to commence at the Hemerdon project, and are delighted that these are now all in place and construction can commence,” said Wolf Minerals’ MD, Russell Clark. “The Wolf management team is established at its UK base and GRES is mobilising and will commence construction in the very near future. This is a very exciting time in the company’s development and provides visible proof to the market that the project will be built and that Wolf will be the next significant producer of tung- sten concentrate globally.” GKN Sinter Metals’ Danyang facility has won supplier awards from three automo- tive customers in China. Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Dalian (VWATD) Co Ltd awarded GKN Danyang the Excellent Supplier of Quality Award in recognition of the plant’s quality perform- ance in 2013 and support over recent years. VWATD is the first wholly owned sub- sidiary outside of Germany to produce advanced dual-clutch automatic transmissions. GETRAG (Jiangxi) Transmission Co Ltd awarded the same facility its CEO Special Award & Zero PPM 2013. Tianjin Tanhas Technology Co Ltd, the largest supplier of synchroniser systems in gave GKN Danyang an Excellent Quality Supplier Award 2013. Milestone achievement “Receiving these awards is a great honour for GKN Sinter Metals Danyang,” said Richard Lee, GKN sales manager, China. “The key elements that enabled this milestone achievement are not only the long and close relationships to our custom- ers, but also our fantastic team and the strong global network. “We will continue to build strong relationships with our customers to achieve our strategic growth objectives.” The facility was estab- lished in 2006, and supplies VW, GETRAG and Tanhas with 2.5 million synchroniser hubs annually, among other sintered transmission parts.

Wolf Minerals begins UK tungsten plant
