Those of you who knew W Bro Harry Burrls ofthe Malvern Hills Lodge No.6B96 will also know

PRESENTATION OF NEBULT ERS TOMALVERN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL WW

that, apaft from several other ailments, W BroHarry had difficulty in breathing, relying forrelief on being able to inhale his medication.Towards the end of February 2005, and verylate at night, the nebuliser belonging to W BroHarry Burns broke down when it was mostneeded and the gentleman who was, in effect, his carer attempted to borrow one fromMalvern Community Hospital but the cupboardwas bare, as was that at the new WorcesterRoyal Hospital. W Bro Harry did survive thenight (the situation was that serious!) and thefollowing morning, the Lodge AImoner, W BroColin Woods and myself attended on W BroHarry and were able to effect a temporaryrepair to this essential piece of his equipment, the nebuliser.

This situation was brought to the notice of theLodge Committee who vowed that it shouldnever be allowed to happen again and thepurchase of two nebulisers was sanctioned

and completed - one for W Bro Harry to keepat his home for his own use during his lifetimeand the other to be kept at the Lodge in case itwas needed when W Bro Harry was able toattend.

Sadly, in May 2006, and in his 93rd year, W BroHarry Burns, PProvSGW., was called to theGrand Lodge Above he suffered a heartattack on the way to a hospital out-patientappointment - and the Lodge Committeedecided that the nebulisers purchased for WBro Harry's use were to be presented toMalvern Community Hospital for use in theMalvern area. The presentation was made on28 September and the nebulisers were verygratefully received by the Matron and three ofher staff. They will, no doubt, be faithfullyapplied.

FUNFAIR SUCCESS

The Lodge of Futurity No 6455 which meets atKings Heath has the annual Group 12 Fun Fairat Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham to thank forfinding its latest recruit,

Bro Ben Parsonage, who was Initiated at their'John Bold Burns Night' meetinE in January, is aPolice Officer with West Midlands Police, andwas on duty at the fun fair when It was held inMay 2006. AlthouEh he was clearly impressedwith what he saw, his curiosity about Masonryhad already been sparked as he had agrandfather who had been a mason. However,it was a chance meeting with W Bro DerekOwen, a Past Master of the Lodge of Futurity, who was one of the organisers of the fun fair, which was to prove of benefit to his Lodge,

Ben asked many questions about Masonry, notonly to W Bro Owen, but also to the othermasons present, including VW Bro RobertVaughan, Deputy PGM and W Bro Colin Young,Assistant PGM, who were both present on theday.

Ben remained in close contact with DerekOwen after the funfair and the publicdemonstration of what masons can do to helptheir local community and the significantcharitable work quietly done by the Craft madea lasting impression on his mind such that hedecided that he wanted to join.

Bro Ben was finally Initiated by W Bro Owenduring the Lodge of Futurity's annual 'JohnBold Burns Night' meeting held sn 30 Januaryin front of over 75 other masons. Guests ofhonour on the evening included VW Bro RobertVaughan and W Bro Colin Young,

In a final twist in the tale, Bro Parsonage ishoping to move to New Zealand later this yearwith his fianc6, Lucky who is a Senior Nurse.Whether this move is temporary or permanent,we can be assured that Worcestershire will beexporting a Masonic ambassador who willspeak well of the work undertaken by ourproud Province.
