BE VOLUNTEER

I am sure you have seen people in need on the news after a hurricane, earthquake, or other disaster. Perhaps you have passed by homeless people who are living on the streets. Or maybe you have been to an animal shelter and wished you could give every pet a home. Our towns, cities, parks, and green spaces need help just like people and animals do. So what can you do to help people or animals who need it? The answer is very simple, be volunteer.

Even if you think you are not old enough, there is always something you can do to help. Use whatever skills you have, because there is definitely someone out there that could use your skills.

For example, in my school there is a program, a friendship program between my school and an orphanage called “A Friend”. I am volunteer in this program and this makes me feel good. Most Saturdays I can be found sorting donated toys for under- privileged kids. Once a month we go to the orphanage and donate the toys. Spending few hours playing with the children and seeing how these toys make little children happy is for us the best reward.

I think it’s important for young people like me to participate in this kinds of programs, because it makes you feel good about yourself for making someone else happy, and gives you the opportunity to make a difference in younger child’s life.

So whether it’s winter clothes, food for the hungry, or homes for unwanted pets, doing volunteer work means one very important thing: you make a difference in the world.
