“From the rising of the sun

to the setting of the same,

the name of the Lord is to

    be praised.” The

    old hymn reads, “All nature

    sings and ‘round me rings

    the music of the spheres.”

    This is an acknowledgment

    that God is reflected all

    throughout the created uni-

    verse. Science tells us that

    there are some planets

    whose spinning path whirls

out a note that is 80+ oc-

    taves below the lowest one

on a piano. Talk about a

    bass note!

    Most things in nature make

    noise. Open your doors in

    the evening hours or step

    outside and listen to “nature

    sing.” (I have a tremen-

    dous choir of cicadas right

    in my yard these days.)

    The males make their song

    by flexing the muscles in

    their abdomen. The fe-

    males flutter their wings to

    sound out their praise.

So if all of God’s song is be-

ing “sung” and played out in

    creation have you ever

    stopped to wonder what our

    song/sounds might be? Is it

the same for everyone or do

we each have a unique con-

    tribution?

    Of course, only God knows

for sure, but my hunch is

    that we have a common

    song and a unique sound

each of us adds. Just as a

fine choir or a great orches-

    tra has various “voices” so

we as humans form a choir

of praise. I believe fun and

    laughter and joy are the

    notes that some sound forth.

I believe for others it is care

    and encouragement. While

    still others are singing out

    God’s praise through, well,

    singing.

God’s song is all around us.

He is being sounded forth in

    the praise of His people.

When we live a life of love

for God and neighbor there is

    an alignment of our heart

    with God’s. A symphony of

praise is the result. It is

played out in millions of lives

    in thousands of ways. Look

for God. He is to be found

    when we are seeking Him

with all of our heart. Listen

to the music. Do you hear

    it? God’s perfect praise is

rising up in the midst of His

people who live and love well

    all for Jesus’ sake.
