After collecting information and familiarizing themselves with the site, the Design Team began to analyze this information in a format that will document both opportunities and constraints to the park’s development. These opportunities and constraints begin to bring shape to the potential design program, and ensure that the ultimate physical plan recommendations are realistic and achievable. Much of the information such as vegetative cover, drainage patterns, soil types, and landforms will be depicted on separate maps by sweeping patterns and color coded according to variety or condition. These individual maps of various characteristics of the site are then overlaid on top of each other. This is done so that the character of the site can be evaluated quickly, allowing the Design Team to easily identify areas for specific program items.
