XPCreate interactive or non-interactive Web pages

• You can convert an Excel workbook into Web pages that can be placed on the Web and viewed by others.

• A non-interactive Web page allows users to scroll through the content but not to make any changes to the values on the page.

• An interactive Web page provides tools for users to modify and format the values displayed in the page.

XPCrease an interactive Web page based on an Excel workbook

• The alternative to creating a non-interactive Web page from an Excel workbook is to create an interactive Web page.

• An interactive Web page allows users to enter different values into the workbook.

• The procedure used to create an interactive Web page is the same as to create a non-interactive Web page except that you choose the Add interactivity option in the Save As dialog box.

XPInteractive Web page considerations

• Difference between an interactive Web page and a non-interactive Web page: – Excel does not publish embedded charts or chart sheets

in the interactive Web pages

– Changes a user makes in an interactive Web page do NOT affect the original workbook or worksheet; only the Web page is affected

– Changes a user makes in an interactive Web page do NOT last from one browser session to the next

XPInteractive Web page considerations

• In an interactive Web page, the contents of the workbook are placed on the page as a Web component called the spreadsheet component.

• The initial size of the spreadsheet component is chosen to fit the initial dimensions of the Web browser window.

• If you change the size of the Web browser window, you might need to refresh the window to resize the workbook object to fit the new dimensions of the window.
