Thermosens is an innovative new material manufactured by Vertex Dental, a long establish supplier of high quality dental products worldwide.
Thermosens is a polyamide which comprises the largest family of engineering plastics which are suitab-le for a wide range of applications. They are very resistant to wear and abrasion, have good mechanical properties and good chemical resistance making them ideal for the demands of the oral environment.
Due to the virtually unbreakable nature of the material and extensive choice of material options, Ther-mosens provides numerous restorative options. There are 7 colour variations of denture base material that correspond with the vertex acrylic range, two tooth coloured materials and clear. With such a vari-ety of available materials the applications for their use are only limited by the imagination and creativity of the user. It can be polished to a high shine which not only improves the aesthetics of the material but also helps in preventing tartar buildup on the denture surface.
Due to the slight distortion (as compared to standard flasking methods when pressing acrylic), Ther-mosens can be used for full and partial dentures allowing the restorative clinician the chance to offer a light weight, aesthetic appliance as an alternative to traditional denture base materials. The tooth co-loured material can be used for overlays on metal partials and temporary crown and bridge restorations both conventional and implant borne. The clear material can be used as an alternative denture frame work, clear clasping and occlusal splints.
Thermosens shines when used in conjunction with Cobalt Chrome partial dentures if the patient is looking for the optimum aesthetics in clasping. Using either clear or one of the pink or tooth colours, clasping can be made as unobtrusive as possible without compromising retention characteristics of the denture.

Thermosens also has the ability to bond to conventional acrylic using “thermofuse” liquid. This quality allows for tooth repairs to be done in the same way as acrylic dentures with corresponding time and cost provisions. It is also useful when constructing clear frameworks and adding conventional pink saddles allowing further bonding of Thermosens and cold cure acrylic.
The introduction of Thermosens in our laboratory has allowed us to offer our clients a broader range of flexible restorative options that go beyond the conventional flexible prosthesis.

Perfect protection for first class results: the suction box Compact of Wassermann provides a combination of maximum safety and comfort.
Without the interference of dust, splinters or fumes, it allows the user to work efficiently and relaxed directly on the object. Hold the Ti abutment and check the fit of the Zr abutment with gC fit Checker Advanced Blue.
Protect the margins of the Zr abutment with wax
Block the screw channel and protect the margins with wax. Only the bonding surface should be exposed.
Sandblast the bonding surface of the Ti abutment with 50 µm Al2O3 and maximum 2 bars maintaining around 1cm distance from the abutment.
Sandblast the bonding surface (inner part) of the Zr abutment using the same parameters.
Place the Ti abutment in the implant replica and protect the margins with wax.
Step by Step
Using the automix tip, extrude the cement around the upper circumference of the Ti abutment. The cement will slowly flow down. This will help to avoid bubbles in the cement line.Important: always discard the very first paste extruded from the mixing tip as it may not present an ideal proportioning of pastes A and B.
Place the Zr abutment in position. The working time of the cement is 2’45” from start of mixing. Do not allow any movement of the Zr abutment.
Light cure each side for 20 seconds with a Halogen/ LED lamp with minimum of 700 mW/cm2 (wavelength between 430 and 480 nm).
Remove excesses. Alternatively, this can be done before light curing. for that, wait until the cement reaches a rubbery consistency to remove excesses.
Polish the margins with a polishing rubber.
Proceed with the preparation of the crown. for the cementation of the crown on the hybrid abutment, we also recommend g-CEM LinkAce.
for the cementation, we recommend g-CEM LinkAce, shade AO3 (opaque).
