A brief history

In 1922, the late Dr. Mohammed Said Tamer established the first pharmacy inSaudi Arabia, and developed the business to encompass the import anddistribution of medicines across the Kingdom. In 1958, the late Dr. FaroukTamer and Mr. Maamoun Tamer took over management and grew theorganization into a leading distributor of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies andconsumer goods. Since 1985, Group expansion has continued strongly underthe third generation extending to local manufacturing of pharmaceuticals andother investments.

Today, the Group has established a special position in the Saudi marketplaceresulting from a unique approach to business, service, and customer portfolio.

Tamer Industries Co. a company investing in industrial proj-ects related to healthcare and consumer goods. It is a majorityshareholder in the Saudi Arabian Japanese Pharmaceutical Co.Ltd (SAJA).

Tamer Investment Co. a company investing in new projectsas well as established enterprises working in various industrial,trading, finance and real estate fields. It is a shareholder in theInternational Medical Centre ( IMC) in Jeddah. IMC is a hospi-tal established by prominent businessmen and Cleveland Clinic,the first international equity holder in hospitals in Saudi Arabia.

SAJA a 50–year joint venture, licensing and supply agreementwith Sankyo Co. Ltd and Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltdto produce the latest researched pharmaceutical products.

Saudi Pharmaceutical Distribution Company (SAPHAD)a company exclusively importing and distributing Novartisproducts in Saudi Arabia. The Group has 50% share in the equity.
