Hi! I’m an equal sign.

Page 5: You’re Not Too Young for Algebra! The Equal Sign Beatriz Miyares Kimball McDermott Elementary Little Rock, AR

Many people think that when they see me they are supposed to find the answer to an equation.

3 + 4 = _7_

Page 6: You’re Not Too Young for Algebra! The Equal Sign Beatriz Miyares Kimball McDermott Elementary Little Rock, AR

An equal sign really means “is the same as.” When you see an equal sign, both sides of the equation must be equal.

3 + 4 = 5 + 2
