V) Program and Agenda

During the Youth Pre-World Health Assembly, each participant will continue to work with their streams and stream leaders. Within these streams, the participants will be working in Small Working Groups to develop a detailed strategy for the World Health Assembly on their area of focus. In total there will be four focus streams for 2015 -

(1) Adolescent and Children’s Health [Stream Leader: Mr. Karim El Sayed]

(2) Climate Change and Health: An Opportunity to tackle Non Communicable Diseases [Stream Leader: Mr. Yassen Tcholakov]

(3) Antimicrobial Resistance [Stream Leader: Ms. Stijntje Dijk]

(4) Health Systems and the Human Resources [Stream Leader: Ms. Meggie Mwoka]

All delegates will receive training in all streams, but will focus on developing a policy and ad-vocacy strategy for the stream which they’ve prepared for. These skills are particularly rele-vant to the work we will undertake throughout the WHA, and in your careers as health advo-cates. Advocacy training sessions will be lead by Dr. Graham Lister, Senior Fellow at the Graduate Institute and visiting Professor at London South Bank University. Preparatory ma-terial for this sessions has been provided to you - they are available at here or by going to http://bit.ly/GH_Diplomacy_Advocacy.

This skills based aspect of the Youth Pre-WHA aims to complement and facilitate your stre-am, and WHA activities. The advocacy training will empower delegates to approach repre-sentatives at the WHA, engage with these actors, and a wider audience, on key issues.

You should have already received the relevant pre-readings for your stream, which are pre-sumed to have been read prior to your arrival, as you will have little time to catch up on rea-dings once in Geneva. There will be an online meeting with the fellow members in your team. Please do also follow the instructions from your stream leader concerning readings to be completed prior to the online meeting with your team. These preparations are an essenti-al part of the activities of the Youth Pre-WHA, and an expectation of all delegates selected to be apart of the event.

If you have any questions or concerns - please contact your stream leader.
