• read and understand the question very carefully (cannot memorise facts without understanding)

• study the diagrams and make comparisions

• list down the topic and concept tested

• craft answers that are scientific; use scientific words and phrases that they have learnt in class.

HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD IN SCIENCE

Have a revision schedule. Important to have a consistent and regular revision.

Use Science textbooks to revise the key facts and concepts in the topics in P3, P4 and P5. They need these facts and concepts when they tackle application questions in PSLE.

Look through worksheets and practice papers.

Use answering techniques consistently in daily work.

Use memory techniques or tools e.g. acronyms, that they learnt during the Personal Mastery workshop.

HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD IN SCIENCE

• Encourage him/her to read widely.

• Encourage him/her to ask questions about things he/she sees around and also get them to explain what they had learnt in the class.

• Talk to him/her about Science that are found in daily life. E.g. hanging wet laundry, a can of cold drink – states of matter, wearing a sweater – conductor of heat, cracks on a cement walkway – expansion due to heat gain, how does a circuit with a bell works.

• Praise your child’s good efforts, and not only his/her successes.
