Dear Brothers and Sisters, "By this we know love, that Christ
laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for
the brothers... Little children, let us not love in word or talk
but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:16-18)" St. John the Apostle
reminds us again and again that our love is grounded in Gods
selfless love for us. Love brings us together today for our 42nd
Macedonian Ball. Love for our parish inspired the dedication and
hard work of the numerous people who made this years Ball a
reality. Love for one another is found in the joy we see today in
the eyes of those around us. Love for God made this parish a
reality so many years ago. Love inspires the good work of those who
are here now. And love will carry us into a bright and joyous
future. Jesus says that there are two great commandments: "Love God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,"
and, "Love your neighbor as yourself." The second commandment is
not, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself," but, "Love your
neighbor as yourself." In other words, we should regard others as
extensions of our very selves. Our lives are profoundly interwoven.
Sometimes this is a source of struggle. But at other times, times
like this evening, these connections bring us great happiness. The
blessings of Gods Kingdom are experienced, not in isolation from
others, but together in a communion of love. May Divine love
illumine our hearts and inspire us to every good work. God

My Dear Friends: Thank you for attending the 42nd Annual
Macedonian Ball and supporting St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox
Church. I would like to take this opportunity to express our
sincere gratitude to all who have placed an ad in this program book
and to those who have contributed to the silent auction. Your
gracious support of this joyful celebration is instrumental to the
success of the Ball. This years Ball is very special because we are
celebrating several milestones in the life of our parish. In
addition to commemorating our 42nd Macedonian Ball, we are also
celebrating 64 years of Christian leadership and service to our
community. Since 1948, we have been celebrating the Macedonian
heritage of our founding fathers while embracing the benefits that
are propagated through cultural diversity within the Church.
Additionally, this is the 21st anniversary of Macedonian
Independence. St. Nicholas has been blessed to have Father Andrew
Jarmus (Otets) as our spiritual leader with his compassionate
understanding and his many years of priestly experience in the
Orthodox faith. To those who have never attended one of our Sunday
Liturgy serves, we invite you to do so. I have found Father Andrews
sermons to be the best of the best. A Father Andrew sermon can be a
life changing event. As the good book says, Come See. I would like
to take this opportunity to thank the following persons. It is
through their efforts that this great celebration of life, The 42nd
Macedonian Ball, has come to fruition. Firstly, I would like to
thank the Ball Committee: Dave & Millie Phillips, Shirley &
Mike Panchev, Bill Skimos, Jim Skimos, Suzanne Dunn, Argie Bellio,
Mike Frank, Bruce Griffey & Julie Replogle, all of whom
dedicated themselves by working countless hours in the planning and
coordination of this joyous event. I would like to thank Tammy
Wever, our new parish secretary, whose help was indispensable.
Thanks to the members of our Parish Council for their leadership
and dedication to the church. Thanks to Father Andrew &
Protodeacon Michael Myers who provide the guiding light of
spiritual leadership to our parishioners. Thank you to all who have
contributed their time and talent to the success of the ball,
including the Womens Guild, Donors of time & money, Our Ad
Sponsors, Our Honored Guests, including the Visiting Clergy and
