2017 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND ASSESSMENTS FOR SCHOOLS (ICAS)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In our rapidly changing world, it is becoming more and more important for our children to develop

strong skills as they progress through their education.

ICAS provides an opportunity for students in Years 2 to 12 (please note that the year level eligibility for each test differs) to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external testing situation. It provides teachers, parents and students with comprehensive reporting of results in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Spelling and Writing. The tests are an excellent preparation for national tests and the student report is useful for highlighting your child’s strengths and weaknesses.

In 2017, Navigator College will be offering students the opportunity to participate in a number of the ICAS competitions and assessments.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

If you would like your child to participate in one or more of the ICAS tests we are running onsite at

Navigator College, please complete the permission slip on the reverse side of this note and return

it, with payment to the school, no later than Monday 1st of May. PLEASE NOTE LATE ENTRIES

WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

The ICAS tests that will be offered at Navigator College this year are as follows:

Science – 30 May 2017 ($9.90 GST inclusive)

Writing – 12 June 2017 to 16 June 2017 ($18.70 GST inclusive)

Spelling – 14 June 2017 ($13.20 GST inclusive)

English – 1 August 2017 ($9.90 GST inclusive)

Mathematics – 15 August 2017 ($9.90 GST inclusive)
