A team from the Aerospace Engineering Faculty of the "Politehnica" University Bucharest intends to participate, under supervising of a staff member, in the international competition Air Cargo Challenge 2015 (http://www.acc2015.com), organized by Euroavia Stuttgart and AKA Modell Stuttgart, that will take place in Stuttgart, Germany, from the 6th to the 10th of August 2015.
This participation aims to promote the intelligence and engineering skills of Romanian students in the aeronautical field at an international level. It also promotes the motivation and training of students in a cutting edge domain as is the aerospace industry.
Which are the goals of the competition?
The student team will design, manufacture and demonstrate the flying performance of a radio-controlled aircraft with an electric engine that satisfies as good as possible the competition requirements. The scope of this project is to demonstrate the aptitudes of the team in the design of a high-performance aircraft evaluated through good flying performance.
The first goal of the team is to obtain a good result in a prestigious competition running against teams from the most prestigious universities from Europe, India, China and the East Asia. This target is feasible considering the experience of the team, which is proven by the results of previous competitions like the 1 st
prize in the 2011 Future Flight Design, 4th prize in the 2009 and 2011 Air Cargo Challenge and the Best Overall Rotary Wing prize in the AUVSI SUAS Competition 2014.
The participation in the competitions will allow:
application of the knowledge gathered during the studies; promotion of the Aerospace Department of the U.P.B.; knowledge exchange with students, professors and specialists in the field; stimulation of the interest in the aeronautical field; Promoting Sponsors at the event.
