41 - 040The Photooxygenation of Benzyl, Heteroarylmethyl, and Allyl Sul-fides. — In aprotic solvents the title reaction offers a mild route to preparealdehydes. This is a general method which can be applied to benzyl derivativeswith either electron-donating or electron-withdrawing substituents. However, starting from α-substituted sulfides some limitations are observed. In a proticsolvent (MeOH) sulfoxides are generally the main products. The mild conditionsand inertness of the pyridine sulfide (Ig) against N-oxidation are remarkable.— (BONESI, SERGIO M.; TORRIANI, ROSANGELA; MELLA, MARIELLA;ALBINI, ANGELO; Eur. J. Org. Chem.
