Cloud Computing trends that’ll disrupt the industry in 2015

If you were to believe IT experts - Cloud Computing is going to be one of the

major IT trends in 2015. Experts are of the belief that cloud computing will

continue to grow manifold. According to Computerworld Forecast Study, “the

growth is expected climb up 42% this year, but given the growing

opportunities, cloud computing is going to face some upheavals along the

way.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is going to be an upsurge in mobile technologies and mainstream business, which is

going to push the cloud computing space to new heights. In 2015, with the growing demand

for cloud computing, there are going to be new challenges and opportunities, which could

some way or the other, disrupt the tending space.

Let’s read below for some of these key trends that could be a distress to the

industry:

1. Increase in containerization of IT resources

BYOD (bring your own device) policies are increasing of late, thus containerization is bound

to increase. Mobile devices are being used for both personal and business purposes by

employees. Business will want to keep both these domains separate, in order to protect

business data; therefore, organizations will be using containerization to control devices. The

result is that technologies are increasing and provisioning platform is enabled on shared

infrastructure allowing employees to perform more tasks with utilization of less resource.

2. Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)

Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) allows business to utilize applications and services on a larger

scale replying on a cloud service provider. As PaaS providers are adding more data

integration and database management capabilities to enable application building on a large

scale; PaaS services are only going to increase, Gartner predicts this to rise to about $1.8

billion in 2015.

3. Immergence of Microsoft cloud

It has been seen in the last year, and it’s a trend that is going to continue in 2015 –

Microsoft has derived more revenues from cloud based services like Azure and Office 365

than from its on-premises applications such as Windows. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's

mobile-first, cloud-first initiative is only speeding this process. As more and more cloud and

on-premises services are integrated with REST and API solutions, data and application

sources will be able to work together in the cloud to enhance functionality.

4. Security is a prevailing issue

Cloud is vulnerable to hacks and as dependence on cloud computing increases, there is

going to be an increase in nefarious intent to breach cloud security. Lack of training and

inappropriate compliance is going to leave business with third-party SaaS and Internet of

Things (Connected consumer electronics) vulnerable to attacks.
