 Concept and advantages:
Starting with a standard pipe, a new pipe with variable thickness is drawn.
Generates new opportunities for light weight design.
Integration of additional features enabling reduction or substitution of machined components.
Optimization of strength profile within the pipe.
 Applications
 Propeller shaft.
 Housing of shock absorbers..
Housing and shafts for steering systems.
Innovation – „Thick-thin“ drawing technology

Inn0vation – burr-free nozzle of piston cooling jets.
 Concept and advantages
Thanks to further development of rotary swaging process, Schmitter achives to generate a step within the nozzle tip of the piston cooling jet. This feature enables to ensure a burr and rework free edge.
The shape of the jet (angle and dispersion) as well as the mass flow are optimized.
 No incremental costs.
High design flexibility: this feature is implemented in every concept of piston colling jet.

 Concept and advantages
Forming process at the pipe ends with identical design and functional characteristics as machined parts.
 Full integration in existing processes.
Reduction of design and manufacturing complexity.
 Weight reduction at constant performance.
 Applications
 Fuel pipes.
Oil feed pipes for steering components.
Connector studs for pumps, filters and fuel rails.
Innovation – Substitution of machined parts via swaging.

 Concept and advantages
Complex assembly of steering racks (featuring casting parts) is replaced by a weld-tube assembly.
All oil feed pipes are integrated into the system.
Every bearing housing and shoulders for seals as well as every modification in cross section or thickness are processed with „Thick-Thin“ technology.
Weight reduction and cost optimization of the steering system thanks to increased product strength.
German Steel Innovation Award in 2006
