#A FEW WORDS FROM THE EDITOR

I can honestly say that I would have never thought to be involved in a world where creative minds run rapid , communication is essential, personalities are beyond eclectic, and time is your best friend. But you

know what, I can’t see myself doing anything else.

I wanted to create something that would speak to an audience that I felt had been left out of the conversation the whole time. A guide where all those who agree say “I”. A platform that’s on a more

informative, yet educational level. A void that needed to be filled.

What you are about to see is an example of what is in store for the next issue, “Issue #1” (Spring/Summer). Look at it as a bullet formatted kind of magazine. Containing the areas that will be

continuous throughout every issue. Now this is only the beginning, and I know it will never end. So I thank you in advance and welcome to Distinct Homme.

Welcome!

SISLEY-PARIS EAU D’LKAR $165.00

There are many things you can draw up about a man’s character based on many attibutes such as his language, style, social circle, but something that is just as important as the other hundred things are his scent. Your choice in fragrance is like the icing on the cake.

This season i suggest the intricately composed fragrance, Eau d’lkar by Sisley-Paris. Powerful dark wood notes of sandalwood and vetiver root combined with the star essesnce Lentiscus, a Mediterranean shrub. Throw in some unexpected floral scents of iris and jasmine, with citrus notes of bitter orange, bergamot and lemon. And you have a man that is ready to embark on an adventure.

Now that we’re out of mom’s house, it’s time we start acting like it. The best thing about getting your own place, is just that....it’s YOUR OWN. Free to do whatever you want. Have your clothes lying in the hallway, cigarette butts in the kitchen sink, dishes underneath the sofa. But, that doesn’t give you an excuse. Try setting a tone to your home, have it reflect your personality; add a little charm with small but quirky things that make a statement and leave a long lasting impression on all your guest. Here are some ideas.

Just after 7 years of one of history’s greatest disasters, Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has their welcome mat out bigger than ever. A New Orleans vacation will be different from any other vacation elsewhere in America. The city’s decadence is legendary, and you don’t even have to wait for Mardi Gras to have a good time.

A city that bubbles with a culture that’s described as intoxicating, it’s hard not to find a local who isn’t look-ing for a good time and pretty impossible to go any-where in the city without hearing the sounds of enticing jazz music or catch a whiff of some simmering shrimp gumbo or crawfish.

Stroll OR be strolled in a horse drawn carriage on the coble stone streets through New Orleans oldest neigh

borhood, The French Quarter. Roll down the Mississippi River in a steamboat. And enjoy the endless opportuni-ties for shopping, restaurants, hotels, bars, and street festivals. But the history won’t be too far behind, as most of these businesses are still housed in historic buildings to this day.

Attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors per year, New Orleans is definitely a city worth visiting. Whether you’re here for Mardi Gras or business, be prepared to have the most enjoyable, yet unforgettable experience ever.

New Orleans premier boutique hotel, Interna-tional House, is what I would call a sophisticat-ed sanctuary. Being two blocks from French Quarter, this beautiful Beaux Arts Building has been reinvented and designed to uplift thwe human spirit. The precise architecture has remained the same, after being one the leading financial institutions in 1906 and then renovated to become the worlds first World Trade Center in 1943. But it’s those very incar-nations that propelled the idea and vision of a forward-looking New Orleans.

SUGGESTIVETRAVEL ITEMS

BACKPACK: RIVER ISLAND$50.00

CAMERA: LEICA V- LUX 30$749.00

Protect those eyes from harm-ful UV rays (especially in the

south). Make a subtle, but bold statement with these.

Sunglasses: Ray-Ban $109.00

Pack light and in style for daily outings while on vacation.

To capture the essence of your travels and get really up close and personal

with keeping track of your location. This is ideal and compact, but stylish.

The décor of this sanctuary is filled with deep reds and neutral tones added to dark woods that im-mediately provide you with a sense of calmness. The objects found here are an eclectic mix of old, new, bought, found, and bequeathed – which is contemporary New Orleans, all by local artists.

With 117 rooms consisting suites and penthouses, these spacious and sophisticated spaces create a minimal but luxurious atmosphere with architectur-al artifacts. As for the bathroom, with spa-like tubs and the Aveda products, you’re guaranteed more than just a relaxing time.

So whether you’re here for business or pleasure (maybe a little bit both), expect to be engulfed in an environment that combines both culture and class, where distinct contemporary style continues to inspire New Orleans enthusiastically.

RAMBLA ONE OF NEW ORLEANS FINEST RESTUARANTS

Page 16: Distinct Homme

031030

It stands to reason that any New Orleans cuisine would contain some sort of evidence of the Spanish influence, considering the city used to be Spain’s property. At Ram-bla, the influence is without a doubt present. The restaurant is not strictly Spanish, but the menu does include French dishes.

Now you may find better patatas bravas elsewhere in the country, but you won’t in New Orleans. Gently spiced brabant potatoes, striped with aioli is just a staple of Span-ish tapas. While small plates aren’t rare at New Orleans restaurants, Rambla is the only one of its caliber fully committed to this traditional style of dining. Among some its most successful dishes are mussels steamed in tomato-basil broth, beets paired with chevre and slivered apple; bacon-wrapped, blue-cheese stuffed dates, fried Gulf oysters stained by a spicy mojo glaze, and empanadas spilling juicy shreds of brisket.

The space is daring in its own way. You would think the interior would have to reflect such an extravagant menu as well. Housed in the International House Hotel, it just makes sense that there is a consistent flow of eccentricity, especially being part of a visual attraction in itself. With an industrial taverna kinda feel, you’ll see raised banquettes that run along one side of the room. Large communal table made of marble and wood. Accented by flickering fat candles in various stages of melting and clustered light fixtures of glowing glass balls, flickering to give it a sexy mellow vibe.

Restaurants this stylish tend to showcase eye-catching food , which makes it refreshing to find the cooking so straight forward. But if you’re in the mood for what they offer, then look no further because this place is definitely worth your attention.

Bourbon is considered to be an old man’s choice of drink, right? Not in today’s society! Bourbon has become an all time favorite of young gents everywhere. To be more exact, Jim Beams Devil’s Cut and Jim Beam Black has done it this time. Devil’s Cut have these intense oak and vanilla notes that gives you this long, smooth, with splash of sweetness kind of taste. Black is a little more elegant, smooth and re-fined (which is what 8 years of aging would do). Containing caramel and warm oak notes, but both will do you just right to get through the cold season.

Women aren’t the only ones concerned about appearance nowadays. Now don’t get me wrong, looking good sure as hell comes with a price, and some times a large one at that. But it’s safe to say that you don’t necessarily have to spend a million bucks to look like one. But, it is important and key that you know your body type and brands that work with it (and wallet). Here is an example on how to achieve a look from RICHARD CHAI’S FALL/WINTER COLLECTION.

We all like a little attention now and again. So wear something that emphasizes your proportions. A waist length jacket is a great way to show off shoulders and torso. And a flat front re-laxed trouser shows us the true length of your legs. Go ahead and introduce yourself to your physique, after all, you guys will be stuck with each other for quite sometime.

Over the course of this collec-tion, out came suits in the most in the most ravishing colors. Such as neutral creams, winter whites and even cop-per. Suits were full tone-on-tone, in bot-tle green, penny copper and teal. With obvious 70’s inspiration filtered into this collection came the slightly boot-cut three-piece suit, large lapels and some suede trench coats. Some things should be left in the past, but unfortunately not this time. The past has been defintely re-invented and retailored to your needs.

Page 29: Distinct Homme

This brand continues to give men exactly what it is they need and must have after 30 years. With neutral, camel-infused col-or tone and greens with grays, the collection ultimately had this sensual yet relaxed feel-ing to it. But then came great riding jackets, car coats, soft plaid trousers and chunky cabled knits. Paired with the unexpected of piped tux pants, and washed corduroy. Or formal-cut trousers made of denim and not wool, just to give everything great bal-ance. Whose great idea was this anyway?

This project wouldn’t have gotten started if it weren’t for the lovely people who faithfully stood by me with great understanding in my vision and who possessed an extreme amount

of patience, and who pushed me to take a chance on an opportunity that they knew I wouldn’t regret. I know I may have forgotten some people, but you know how dear and

important you are to this whole project and it will only get better.
