WHY LED? Reduced Maintenance

Save Energy

Improved Lighting

A high performance LED fixture, when applied and installed correctly, will improve

your lighting outcomes. The excellent lifetime characteristics, inherent in quality

LED light fixtures, will save you money through significantly reduced maintenance

costs and reduced power consumption.

Clearly, we emphasise quality as a major consideration in your product selection,

it is simply not a cost effective option to use inferior, low cost, LED products.

It is also important to protect your investment in LED products, unlike lamp

technology, very sophisticated electronic equipment is used to “drive” the LED

chips, yet often this equipment is not adequately protected by relatively inexpensive

surge or transient protection devices.

How do you recognise a good quality LED fixture? The supplier should be able to

readily provide you with an IES or similar photometric file for the product, this file

contains the light distribution and intensity data used to do effective and compliant

lighting design. Long warranties are often offered on LED products, check exactly

what the warranty covers. Also, it is important to ensure that the supplier is

likely to be in business should you need to take advantage of such a guarantee.

In general, look for LED products that use optical lenses to distribute the light.

It is the most efficient method of distributing and controlling the output of the LED

light source. In addition, you should also protect the LED driver with surge and

transient protection equipment to ensure the validity of any warranty claim.

The rapid growth in the use of LED-based light sources has brought with it new challenges on system durability.

In order to ensure that the advantageous lifetime of the new technology is realised, it is vital to protect the light engine against surges on the supply to the driver. Even the highest quality LED drivers offer a limited level of surge protection, not enough to defend against high surges and transients. Relatively inexpensive Surge Protection Devices offer a reliable solution for protecting this quite sophisticated electronic equipment.

External protection is essential to protect your investment. Traditional light sources were much less susceptible to direct or induced supply voltage problems, so this was often never considered important, now, LED fixtures are often retrofitted into potentially lethal environments. It is our strong recommendation that the use of simple surge protection devices should accompany LED light fixture installations.

We can advise you which type of protective product you should use to protect your investment in this great technology.

DON’T GUESS!

We offer a lighting design service to accurately determine the correct LED fixture, it’s positioning and the required quantity to deliver the amount of light required to suit your application.

Simply advise us the dimensions of the area, the mounting height of the fixtures, either the type of work being undertaken in the area, or your required Lux levels and we can design the rest for you. This will provide you with the positioning and most suitable fixture for your application.

Alternatively, if you wish to replace older technology with LED fixtures, provide us with dimensions, fixture positions and mounting heights. We will provide you with a design that will provide you with a much more energy efficient and low maintenance option using LED technology.
