Grown up in Rotonda, a small town in Lucania, Francesco Filizzola owes his passion for music to his grandfather Giosuè Filizzola (composer of classical music and tenor flugelhorn soloist also of the Italian Army band during the Second World War). Graduated in Forestry and Environmental Sciences, after a London experience in thetechnical-scientific sector, he entirely devoted himself to the musicalsphere, dedicating himself to vocal studies. A path that led him todevelop an original style, a mix of different techniques such as opera singing, studied at the City Lit Opera School in Covent Garden inLondon, and Mongolian singing. His main project is related to theColomboloco band, in which he sings, plays the trumpet and writes music and lyrics. Back in Italy he dedicated himself to another passion: wine. Together with Anja Cramer, Emanuele Trono and Simona Sarotto he created Wine Tender, an exclusive club for wine lovers.

The narrator

It is synonymous with home, family and comfort. It is the garment that dres-ses the intimate moments of my life,representing my tastes and preferences and expressing my style. It is a second skin, a companion to relax in free time moments, a uniform that goes beyond a good night and a security when I want to feel free. But pjs are much more to me, they are part of my family historybecause, as my grandmothers Carolina and Teresa - and of course my mother too - said “pyjamas keep you company while you sleep: the better the fabric, the more beautiful your dreams will be “as if there was an indissoluble asso-ciation between the two things. A love bond that cannot fail to have its own soundtrack: for the sensations theyproduce wearing them, pyjamas are able to refer to the emotions that only music generates. I am thinking of Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel, an alternation of intimate sensations created by a piano that intones an almost mantric motif, capable of entering into total harmony with the deep and sweet melody diffused by a cello. A harmonious synthesis that caresses the soul, almost like pyjamas that touch our skin. But pjs could also evoke an opera such as, for example, Donizetti’s elixir of love, a succession of joyful and amusing situations, sad and dramatic moments. Moments that mark our life and of which pyjamas are reassuring and enveloping spectators.

How many pyjamas are there in your drawer and which one are you wearing right now?Only 5 or 6 pjs, but all chose with great care. In this period, however, I focus on the ‘broken’: no trousers but only a blue night t-shirt..

Not just at night: a time when you would wear pyjamas?As a lover of the sea and an admirer of direct contact with nature, I imagi-ne myself on a boat, on the teak deck of a sail during an evening at anchor: what better than a pjs set to enjoy the well-being of such an absolute mo-ment?

If you were to compare Julipet pjs to a wine, what characteristics would they have?Julipet pyjamas are synonymous with refinement, attention to detail, but also savvy in the cut and custo-misation: if they were a wine they would certainly be silky and enve-loping, capable of giving rich sen-sations that satisfy the palate during the sip.

Among the known characters, who would best interpret the Juli-pet style?Leonardo di Caprio in “The Great Gatsby” would be the ideal testimo-nial.

The perfect “companion” for pyjamas: a book, a background music, a blanket, some food?Probably all of that, but I choose the background music and point unre-servedly on “My way” by Frank Si-natra.

A first memory in pyjamas?It dates back to when I was a child and is casual-ly linked to Trucco Tessile (the company which leads the Julipet brand), from which I was cho-sen as a model for a photo shoot.An experience that was like a game for me…

What does pyjamas represent for you?They don’t have a single meaning, confirming how in my imagination these garments have a thousand different souls that adapt to the context in which they are worn. They definitely repre-sent relaxation, the time when the day is over and you can abandon yourself to the warmth of home, forgetting all constraints. But they are also an expression of the time of well-being, to be dedicated to oneself and one’s passions while waiting for sleep to come.

If you were a pyjama set what kind would you be ...?A silk pyjama set, because it balances the ae-sthetic component with the sensations it is able to give on the skin. Elegant and welcoming, re-fined and enveloping, it is definitely the pjs that represents me best.

Never without pyjamas: when?Pyjamas are always with me: they are my relax outfit if I am at home and my travel companion when I travel for work or pleasure. But they are also my partners when there are casual-informal occasions where I can wear them without fee-ling out of place such as, for example, a home evening with close friends or a weekend dedi-cated only to rest. More than “ never without pyjamas “, in my case rather “ always with pjs “.

Thinking about it, I always wear the same one, which is my favourite .. I alternate the others when the latter is in the laundry.

Not just at night: a time when you would wear pyjamas?In my vision, pyjamas are strongly connected with the night, with the world of rest and dreams. Although they are garments with a very clear identity and intended use, this does not mean that they cannot also be worn in other situations. A good coffee on Sunday morning, in my pyjamas, is a cuddle that I like to give myself.…

If you were to compare Julipet pjs to a wine, what characteristics would it have?The colour appropriate to the style of the wine and when worn they should convey the same pleasure that a sip of good wine creates.

Among the known characters, who would best interpret the Julipet style? I’m a huge fan of Pierce Brosnan and in the period when he was playing James Bond on the big screen he would have been the perfect model for Julipet pyja-mas, which are recognised for their time-less style and great aesthetic appeal.

A first memory in pyjamas?The memory sees me as a child, next to my mother who wanted to buy me a nightgown, while I much preferred the classic pyja-mas: although I was only 4 years old I already had very clear ideas. The nightgown was definitely not for me, not for one aesthetic reason, but for its discomfort: the night it forced me to wake up be-cause it always slipped upwards and left me too exposed.

What does pyjamas represent for you?They are the beginning of a bre-ak, a moment of relaxation and recovery from the stress accu-mulated during the day. Wearing them always corresponds to a pleasant moment, dedicated only to me.

If you were a pyjama set what kind would you be ...?Definitely a silk pjs set, very soft and capable of giving a fresh and caressing sensation on the skin. Depending on the season, howe-ver, I would diversify shape and colour: in winter I would choose a long-sleeved shirt and wide-leg single-colour trousers, perhaps black, while in summer I would choose multicoloured tops and shorts with designs or graphics.

Contratto was founded by Giuseppe Contratto in 1867. The winery is known as the oldest producer of sparkling wines in Italy. Indeed, the 1919 Contratto Extra Brut classic method was the first millesimato sparkling wine ever produced in the country.

The winery has a long and prestigious history. At the end of the twentieth century, its wines left Canelli for destina-tions around the world (mainly to royal houses), and Contratto was the personal supplier of the Vatican as well as of the Italian royal family.
