Grown up in Rotonda, a small town in Lucania, Francesco Filizzola owes his passion for music to his grandfather Giosuè Filizzola (composer of classical music and tenor flugelhorn soloist also of the Italian Army band during the Second World War). Graduated in Forestry and Environmental Sciences, after a London experience in thetechnical-scientific sector, he entirely devoted himself to the musicalsphere, dedicating himself to vocal studies. A path that led him todevelop an original style, a mix of different techniques such as opera singing, studied at the City Lit Opera School in Covent Garden inLondon, and Mongolian singing. His main project is related to theColomboloco band, in which he sings, plays the trumpet and writes music and lyrics. Back in Italy he dedicated himself to another passion: wine. Together with Anja Cramer, Emanuele Trono and Simona Sarotto he created Wine Tender, an exclusive club for wine lovers.

The narrator

It is synonymous with home, family and comfort. It is the garment that dres-ses the intimate moments of my life, representing my tastes and preferences and expressing my style. It is a second skin, a companion to relax in free time moments, a uniform that goes beyond a good night and a security when I want to feel free. But pjs are much more to me, they are part of my family historybecause, as my grandmothers Carolina and Teresa - and of course my mother too - said “pyjamas keep you company while you sleep: the better the fabric, the more beautiful your dreams will be “as if there was an indissoluble asso-ciation between the two things. A love bond that cannot fail to have its own soundtrack: for the sensations theyproduce wearing them, pyjamas are able to refer to the emotions that only music generates. I am thinking of Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel, an alternation of intimate sensations created by a piano that intones an almost mantric motif, capable of entering into total harmony with the deep and sweet melody diffused by a cello. A harmonious synthesis that caresses the soul, almost like pyjamas that touch our skin. But pjs could also evoke an opera such as, for example, Donizetti’s elixir of love, a succession of joyful and amusing situations, sad and dramatic moments. Moments that mark our life and of which pyjamas are reassuring and enveloping spectators.

FACE TO FACE

A pyjamas set for two

I think everyone should be able to choose it on their own. Only thewearer can truly know what they need and make them feel good.

The first pyjama set you received as a gift? In my memory there’s a pyjama set with Mickey Mouse, when I was a child.

Women and pyjamas: whichone wins you over?I have to repeat myself, but I havea passion for silk pyjamas which, for women, are an expressionof charm, Elegance and, why notseduction. Of course, the colour isimportant too...

When pyjamas are perfect? When you feel and look good while wearing them and, at the same time, if they give you feelings of comfort and satisfaction.

Which pyjamas should never be missing in a man’s wardrobe?Pinstripe pyjamas, with a shirt-jacket cut sweater.Too formal?

How many pyjamas are there in your drawer and which one are you wearing right now?Only 5 or 6 pjs, but all chose with great care. In this period, however, I focus on the ‘broken’: no trousers but only a blue night t-shirt..

Not just at night: a time when you would wear pyjamas? As a lover of the sea and an admirer of direct contact with nature, I imagi-ne myself on a boat, on the teak deck of a sail during an evening at anchor: what better than a pjs set to enjoy the well-being of such an absolute mo-ment?

If you were to compare Julipet pjs to a wine, what characteristics would they have?Julipet pyjamas are synonymous with refinement, attention to detail, but also savvy in the cut and custo-misation: if they were a wine they would certainly be silky and enve-loping, capable of giving rich sen-sations that satisfy the palate during the sip.

Among the known characters, who would best interpret the Juli-pet style?Leonardo di Caprio in “The Great Gatsby” would be the ideal testimo-nial.

The perfect “companion” for pyjamas: a book, a background music, a blanket, some food?Probably all of that, but I choose the background music and point unre-servedly on “My way” by Frank Si-natra.

A first memory in pyjamas? It dates back to when I was a child and is casual-ly linked to Trucco Tessile (the company which leads the Julipet brand), from which I was cho-sen as a model for a photo shoot. An experience that was like a game for me…

What does pyjamas represent for you? They don’t have a single meaning, confirming how in my imagination these garments have a thousand different souls that adapt to the context in which they are worn. They definitely repre-sent relaxation, the time when the day is over and you can abandon yourself to the warmth of home, forgetting all constraints. But they are also an expression of the time of well-being, to be dedicated to oneself and one’s passions while waiting for sleep to come.

If you were a pyjama set what kind would you be ...?A silk pyjama set, because it balances the ae-sthetic component with the sensations it is able to give on the skin. Elegant and welcoming, re-fined and enveloping, it is definitely the pjs that represents me best.

Never without pyjamas: when?Pyjamas are always with me: they are my relax outfit if I am at home and my travel companion when I travel for work or pleasure. But they are also my partners when there are casual-informal occasions where I can wear them without fee-ling out of place such as, for example, a home evening with close friends or a weekend dedi-cated only to rest. More than “ never without pyjamas “, in my case rather “ always with pjs “.

The first pyjama set you gave as a gift?I don’t think I’ve ever given one as a gift: fin-ding it a very personal and intimate garment,

Emanuele Trono, born Enoblogger, graduated in Business and Management at the University of Economics in Turin, a Master in Italian Wine Culture at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo (CN), Ais sommelier, is one of the most impor-tant influencers in Italy in the wine sector.

They have a passion in “common”, but two personal stories and different styles that find a consonance in the taste for beauty (and for the good). Starting from the choice of the pjs that are the protagonist of memories of the past, an expression of their character and a garment to wear not only for the night…

Page 3: Face to face Arte & PJS Christmas special JPMAGAZINE

every occasion you wear them. The signal that it is the perfect pjs set occurs when you have to change it because it is worn: you immediately run to the store to buy another similar, if not the same.

Which pyjamas should never be mis-sing in a man’s wardrobe? The perfect ones!

How many pyjamas are there in your drawer and which one are you wearing right now?Six of them peep out in my wardrobe for the night, but in fact two are almost ‘for display’ because I hardly ever use them. Thinking about it, I always wear the same one, which is my favourite .. I alternate the others when the latter is in the laundry.

Not just at night: a time when you would wear pyjamas? In my vision, pyjamas are strongly connected with the night, with the world of rest and dreams. Although they are garments with a very clear identity and intended use, this does not mean that they cannot also be worn in other situations. A good coffee on Sunday morning, in my pyjamas, is a cuddle that I like to give myself.…

If you were to compare Julipet pjs to a wine, what characteristics would it have? The colour appropriate to the style of the wine and when worn they should convey the same pleasure that a sip of good wine creates.

Among the known characters, who would best interpret the Julipet style? I’m a huge fan of Pierce Brosnan and in the period when he was playing James Bond on the big screen he would have been the perfect model for Julipet pyja-mas, which are recognised for their time-less style and great aesthetic appeal.

The perfect “companion” for pyjamas: a book, a background music, a blanket, some food? The answer for me can only be one: the last glass of wine of the day...

Never without pyjamas: when? When I sleep alone, feeling wrapped in pyjamas makes me feel good.

The first pyjama set you gave as a gift?To my father. I was still a teena-ger and I put a pyjamas set under the tree for him for Christmas. It seemed to me the right gift: after all, the pyjamas & dad combina-tion is a classic…

The first pyjama set yourecei-ved as a gift? When I was 14, my mother had me find a burgundy silk pyjamas set packed, it had the colour of wine. Was that a warning sign?

Men and pyjamas: which one wins you over?AI really appreciate the man who chooses classic pyjamas for the night, for the cut, style, design and attention to detail, and quality for the type of fabric. Pyjamas with these characteristics, worn by a charming man, are like a box that contains a precious gift. First you focus on the packa-ging, of which you recognise the value, then, once unwrapped and opened, you appreciate the gift it holds. When pyjamas are perfect?QWhen they give you pleasure on

A first memory in pyjamas? The memory sees me as a child, next to my mother who wanted to buy me a nightgown, while I much preferred the classic pyja-mas: although I was only 4 years old I already had very clear ideas. The nightgown was definitely not for me, not for one aesthetic reason, but for its discomfort: the night it forced me to wake up be-cause it always slipped upwards and left me too exposed.

What does pyjamas represent for you? They are the beginning of a bre-ak, a moment of relaxation and recovery from the stress accu-mulated during the day. Wearing them always corresponds to a pleasant moment, dedicated only to me.

If you were a pyjama set what kind would you be ...?Definitely a silk pjs set, very soft and capable of giving a fresh and caressing sensation on the skin. Depending on the season, howe-ver, I would diversify shape and colour: in winter I would choose a long-sleeved shirt and wide-leg single-colour trousers, perhaps black, while in summer I would choose multicoloured tops and shorts with designs or graphics.

Only for me: the value of custom- made pyjamasThe exclusivity of a garment passes through its customisation ca-pable of making it unique and not replicable. A valuable idea for a gift that wants to be remembered.

The custom-made tailoring paved the way: a suit designed on your body is like a glove, which not only fits without constraints, giving comfort and ease thanks to its wearability, but also minimises defects and enhances the merits. A unique garment, to feel… unique. An approach to style that also defines Julipet’s pyjamas that make design, attention to detail and refinement of fabrics their notes of excellence. That even pjs, after the underwear, adopted personalisation as their distinctive trait was therefore written in the stars. Embroidered let-ters once reserved for shirts, have thus landed on V-neck sweaters, crew neck and jackets for the night, promoting them from garments reserved to the good night to proposals for homewear, to be worn to “dress” everyday life, from moments dedicated to free time.

The initials of your name, however, are not a sim-ple aesthetic quirk or an old-style refinement, but a celebration of the pleasure of wearing garments that speak of the wearer, starting from their initials, made in the preferred font and colour. Four fonts (Arial, times, courier and monotype cursive) and 7 colours (white, black, yellow, red, green, blue and light blue) applied to two letters make each pyjama set even more valuable: if its cut and fabric (filosco-zia & cotton, poplin, Lyocell and 100% interlock among others) are in fact the first expression of its value, custom made is the element that makes it even more identifying. An exclusive and intimate gift: why not to think about it for Christmas?

At every sleep its pyjamas

IPSE DIXIT

If insomnia is one of the main plagues for modern man, the “right” pyjamas can help to recover good rest.

Sleep.org, the website of the American National Sleep Foundation, says it also indicates the most suitable weaving to reach the arms of Morpheus. Which one to choose? The difference is made by the demands. The natural cotton, light and soft to the touch is also very breathable. Allowing the air circulation does not contribute to irritate the skin if you are sensitive. If you are warm or particularly cold, however, it is not the best solution because it is not a good insu-lation nor efficient enough in managing moisture. It is the ideal answer for those who suffer from low temperatures or always warm silk, perfect thermoregulator. The option reserved for the winter season is flan-nel, an essential choice because it warms and but it is breathable. Last but not least the wool and the fleece accompany you with softness in the world of dreams, ensuring warmth and a pleasant fe-eling of enveloping. They are perfect for a good night without chills.

“Pyjamas are the nightwearof a decent person.”

ART&PJS

The numbers also confirm that bubbles & co are ambassa-dors of Italian know-how in the world. The first ISTAT data speak for themselves: wine production in 2020 was stable as a whole compared to 2019 at 49.9 million hectolitres and 9% above the ten-year average; white wines recorded an increase of 2% and red ones a slight decrease (3%) reaching respecti-vely 28.6 and 21.3 million hectolitres. Dedicating two col-lections to the cultural beauties and prestigious labels of Italy represented for Julipet a declaration of love for the country.

“Greetings from Italy” and “Artist Edition”: a beautiful country in name and in fact. You say Italy and think of the numerous works of art that dot it, making it one of the most popular culturaldestinations in the world: from the Colosseum to theMilan Cathedral, from the Leaning Tower of Pisa to the MoleAntonelliana, there is no region that does not have places worth visiting. Julipet celebrates this priceless wealth withthe capsule collection “Greetings from Italy”, in whichgraphics that stylize some of the most famous Italian monuments chase each other in a symbolic itinerary on sweatpants, cardigan jackets, Henley neck sweaters and on strictly blue and 100% Interlock men’s nightgowns.

The “Artist Edition” for autumn / winter 2021/22 is also in-spired by another of the tricolour excellences - wine -. Born from the collaboration between Trucco Tessile (brand to whi-ch Julipet belongs), Enoblogger - aka Emanuele Trono - andContratto (wine producer whose classic method “1919 Contrat-to Extra Brut” was the first vintage sparkling wine ever produ-ced in Italy), the collection comes in 6 pjs with two patterns - bottles of bubbles or goblets and bunches of red grapes - prin-ted on “V-neck, Henley-neck and crew-neck sweaters or swe-atpants or straight-legged trousers in 100% Interlock cotton.

Perfect interpreter of that sophisticated lifestyle that has always distinguishes the brand, the collection praises wine in its pu-rer essence also thanks to the production of the “Contratto forJulipet ”whose bottles will be used to set up the Christmas shop windows of the boutiques and shops that distribute the brand.Prosit!

Works of art and symbols related to the wine world define two capsule collections which are already iconic in terms of models and graphics.

Art and wine: these are two strong points of the image of Italy in the world. It is no coincidence that the Peninsula, with 55 sites of which 5 natural (Aeolian Islands, Monte San Giorgio, Dolomites, Mount Etna and ancient primordial beech woods of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe) recognised as Unesco heritage, is, together to China, the nation that holds the largest number. The number also includes 8 cultural landscapes, among which the wine-growing areas of Piedmont (Langhe-Roero and Monferrato) and the Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene stand out.

I t a l i a n(pjs)best

From head …to toe

Glasses of wine and monuments are not limited to pyjamas, but also punctuate underwear (from briefs to boxers) in cotton and elastane and the collection of socks in cotton, nylon and Lycra. Also available in a refined box with a pack of three pairs, they will appeal to the men who appreciate matching, the men who are attentive to details and who appreciate outfits with humorous details.Because as Charles Baudelaire wrote:

“People who drink only waterhave a secret to hide”

From the collaboration between Enoblogger and the wineryContratto was born the line W I N E W E A R

Contratto was founded by Giuseppe Contratto in 1867. The winery is known as the oldest producer of sparkling wines in Italy. Indeed, the 1919 Contratto Extra Brut classic method was the first millesimato sparkling wine ever produced in the country.

The winery has a long and prestigious history. At the end of the twentieth century, its wines left Canelli for destina-tions around the world (mainly to royal houses), and Contratto was the personal supplier of the Vatican as well as of the Italian royal family. Awards and medals from international exhibitions and competitions of the time highlight the reason why the name of Contratto has long been synonymous with prestige and quality in the world of sparkling wines.

The impressive historic cellars of Contratto represent a real treasure and are among the most beautiful in Italy. These huge underground cellars, which cover more than 5000 square meters, were built in the heart of the hill that protects the small town of Canelli (AT), dug into the limestone tuff to a depth of 32 meters. The cellars maintain the constant and natural temperature of 13 degrees and the ideal moisture content are a perfect environment for the fermentation in bottle and the slow aging of the wines obtained following the classic method.

Enoblogger – wine communicatorEmanuele Trono, Graduated in Business and Management at the University of Economics of Turin, attended the courses of sommelier AIS and completed a Master in Italian Wine Culture at the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo (CN).

Enoblogger, is a project born from his passion for wine and his desire to share it.Its goal has been and still is to feed the good drinking and to raise awareness of new skills, creating a point of refe-rence that elevates the matter and makes it fresh and accessible to even the less experienced. He started by opening a social media profile to show the bottles he opened, the cellars he visited, the trips he under-took and the restaurants where he went to eat.

When companies began to contact him to collaborate, he saw the interest grow and now his profession is digital en-trepreneur.Indeed, the profile Enoblogger has 96 thousand followers, ranking among the most important influencers in Italy in the wine sector.
