For Introverts Only: What to Talk About

Is the thought of college overwhelming you? Is the whole idea of it a bit foreign to you? Know

that you aren't alone in your stress of thinking about college. College is a completely different

experience, but you can prepare yourself and avoid being overwhelmed. Use the tips shared

here and make your time in college fun and productive.

If you excel in a specific academic area, why wouldn't you use it to earn money? Being a

tutor to others can be a great way to get yourself a little extra income. Come up with a flyer

and advertise on bulletin boards around campus. You can also market yourself online.

If hitting an academic stride has been a challenge, check for any available study skills

seminars. College courses are different from high school and require a transition. Study

classes can provide excellent tips on how to study effectively so that you can achieve

success in class.

Writing Police Reports: Ten Questions and Answers Take only the essentials if you are going

to live in the dormitory. Dorm rooms aren't exactly the most spacious accommodations, and

even a little clutter goes a long way. Write down the essentials on a list, and do not buy

extraneous items when doing your shopping. There are many clever storage containers and

compact multipurpose dorm room items.

Direct deposit is a better option for your financial aid funds, so skip the prepaid card offers

you may receive. Most cards subject you to fees and surcharges. Others place limits on your

withdrawals. Choosing direct deposit will ensure that you get all of the money you have

coming to you.

Many college students reduce costs by staying in dorms with roommates. That said, it

doesn't make studying easier! If you find that having roommates distracts you from your

studies, look into living alone or with your parents at home.

Try not to become distracted by romantic interests. Social opportunities might be especially

tempting if college is your first experience living on your own. It is better to learn than to meet

a 'love interest'. It's ok to date, but don't let dating distract you from your education. You need

to focus on getting your education so that you can secure your future.

Be sure to take lots of toiletries along to college. These are necessities that you will require

each and every day. Try to buy in bulk as well, as this will help you to save money over time.

When you are selling your textbooks online, compare different companies. Each site will

charge a different rate, so find the one which best suits your needs.

Make sure you take time for breaks. While studying is critical, it is also critical that you don't

forget to take study breaks. Take a ten minute or longer break during each hour that you

study. This schedule will allow you time to grab a snack, stretch, and allow your mind to rest.

Have you considered playing a sport at your prospective college? Contact the school and

see if you can chat with the coach. It is common for coaches to be unaware of many

promising athletes, and therefore it makes sense to let them know of your interest. You may

even find out about a scholarship they offer.
