HORUS HERESY: FRIENDLY TOURNAMENT

OVERVIEW Looking for a straight up Age of Darkness event with no funny cards or wonky dice - just the game as written? No problem, we understand the demand. So we've set up just such an event in the form of a FRIENDLY tournament where you can match tactics against Praetors of a similar mindset.

Players will declare themselves as Traitor of Loyalists at sign up, if there is an uneven amount of players per side some players will be asked to switch sides to achieve balance. Blackshields will still have to declare a side.

FORCES Players will bring a single 2,500-point detachment chosen from the various Horus Heresy Books using the Age of Darkness Force Organization Chart. A single Lord of War worth up to 625 pts may be taken. If you wish, this choice may be any model as long as it follows the normal rules for Lords of war choices. A single Fortification that does not exceed 100 pts may also be taken. Each army is allowed to take an ally detachment worth up to 625 points. Please bring a few extra copies of your army list for your opponents. All Warlord Traits will be rolled from an appropriate Heresy Era chart, not from the 40k Rulebook.

RESTRICTIONS • No Dark Age Relics may be used for this event • No Questoris Knight Crusade Army lists may be

used for this event • Any Horus Heresy books that releases after the

28th of February will not be in use, additionally • experimental rules will not be useable for this

event. • The Death From the Skies expansion will not be

used.

FORMAT This swiss format tournament will feature 3 games over the course of the day. A well balanced force will help you achieve the scenario objectives and score VPs for your side.

UNIVERSAL RULES Table Set-up: Scenery will be set up by the event organizers, but players may re-arrange the terrain in any mutually agreed upon fashion if they so desire. If there any questions on how certain terrain functions, please discuss it with your opponent until mutually agreed upon, if there is a question on how a certain terrain piece should function or if an agreement cannot be made, please flag down an event organizer to assist in a ruling.

Scoring Units: The rules for scoring units will be used as described in the rules for playing Age of Darkness battles, meaning, only troop units and models with the Implacable advance special rules will count as scoring and denial units will follow the rules presented in the Age of Darkness expansion.

Strength D Weapons: The tournament will be using the Age of Darkness for strength D weapons, meaning Destroyer weapons count as S10 with Instant Death, ignores cover and rerolls invulnerable saves and penetration rolls, removing D3+1 wounds/hull points when unsaved.

Variable Game Length: All games will use the rules for Variable Game Length.

5 Minute Warning: Once this is announced, NO additional game turns shall be started - no exceptions! If the current game turn has not been completed when time has expired, the game will be afforded a grace period in order to finish out the current game turn and should be reconciled as quickly as possible. The judges reserve the right to end any game that is taking too long to resolve.

The 40k FAQ: All rulings in the Games Workshop FAQ for 40k will be used EXCEPT the ruling on the use of grenades in close combat, if a model has a grenade and is in melee range, it may make an attack with the grenade.
