How to Fit in on Twitter

The Do’s and Don'ts

@wrightsprinting

There are certain things you just CAN’T do on Twitter.

@wrightsprinting

It is NOT Facebook.

@wrightsprinting

And it’s not Instagram.

@wrightsprinting

Which means it has its own set of RULES.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 1: Hashtags are important.

They serve a purpose. They allow people to find you

when talking about certain subjects.

@wrightsprinting

But D N’T overuse them.

@wrightsprinting

You’re safe with 1 or 2 hashtags per tweet.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 2: Follow-backs are nice, but not

necessary.

@wrightsprinting

The people you follow represent who

you are.

@wrightsprinting

They should be real and add value to you. The

crowd you would want to hang around with.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 3: Absolutely AUTOMATIC direct messages.

@wrightsprinting

I repeat No automatic direct

messages.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 4: Add value with every Tweet.

@wrightsprinting

Please don’t be THAT person on Twitter.

@wrightsprinting

You know, the one who tweets about food

4 times a day.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 5: Block accounts that don’t add value, that are

inappropriate, and accounts that won’t reflect well on you.

@wrightsprinting

Especially the SPAM accounts.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 6: Don’t connect your Facebook & Twitter accounts.

@wrightsprinting

You have 140 characters on Twitter and 63,206 characters

on Facebook.

@wrightsprinting

Facebook and Twitter are two different things and should be treated as such. Like apples

and oranges.

@wrightsprinting

You end up with a weird link on Twitter when you

do this.

People will find you out and stop following you

or never even start.

@wrightsprinting

Rule 7: Talk to people.

@wrightsprinting

It’s social media. Being social is most important.

@wrightsprinting

Encourage conversation, build relationships and

convert customers.

@wrightsprinting

Although Twitter is here to stay it’s evolving to meet our needs.

@wrightsprinting

If you’re on the platform- you’ve got to fit in with the

crowd.
