iPhone Data Recovery Advice
By Mike Marciano
Your iPhone is capable of storing a large amount of different kinds of data - apps, pictures, videos, sound
clips, documents and even emails. Though the small device packs a powerful punch, it's still very
susceptible to physical damage and lost data. If you're in the unfortunate situation where you lost data
on your iPhone, read on for some helpful tips on how to get it back!
There are two ways to go about recovering lost iPhone data: the do-it-yourself software recovery
method and the spend lots of money and hire a profession option. If you're still able to connect to your
iPhone, the first thing you need to do is scan your system and get an overview of what files you have. I
recommend using a program called recover4All Pro v2.26. Last time I checked it's free and available for
download online. The full scan could take up to 3 hours, so you will probably just want to connect the
iPhone to your computer, load up the software, and let it do its thing.
After the scan is complete, sync up to iTunes and click the 'summary' tab; then click 'restore'. This will
prompt a message asking you if you'd like to restore your previous settings, to which you should answer
'yes'. Your iTunes will then put all the files back onto your iPhone that were saved last time you synced
up. This is certainly the easy way out; if your phone is damaged and you're unable to connect, you've got
a bigger problem.
My first recommendation with a damaged iPhone is to take it to your nearest Apple store. Talk to the
techs there and see if they can help you recover your data for free. This is a hit or miss situation in my
experience; sometimes they can help and sometimes they can't do anything. If they can help you for
free, you're in luck. If not, you'll have to search for a professional data recovery services company, which
may cost you hundreds of dollars when it's all said and done.
